The Sonics are the gods of cool... 😎 👌 They grabbed Rock'n'Roll by the scruff of it's neck & thrashed out some of the best sounds you'll ever hear...If there is a heaven or a hell...& you can still hear the Sonics play, it'll always be the best place to be!! SX 😉👌👍

Used to dance to these guys, and this song, in the gym at my high school. Best friggin' music ever. The Sonics over-drove these huge Klipsch PA horns for the vocals and that's why it sounds so dirty. Great stuff.

@@cattycorner8, I was 16 or so at the time (74 now), great stuff. At that time the song was a couple of years old. The drummer's nickname was "Boom Boom" for good reason. You really don't understand what you are talking about. When these guys recorded this (64ish), there was no "fuzz" available. That came a few years after the Sonics and really got going in the 70's. They got that distorted sound by over-driving every amp they owned as well as a pair of Klipsch PA horns. In the 60s there was no "garage punk underground". I was there, I know.
@pencilneck2211 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah!! I used to dance to them in the gym in high school. The sound was so distorted because all the vocals were run through, and the amps were too, a huge pair of Klipsch P.A. horns. They were not known for their clarity but they pumped out the noise!. If you couldn't dance to the Sonics you needed a brain transplant.

Jacob Bassett I love that people figure this stuff out on their own. These days, it’s easy to look up “first punk songs” online. But to notice it and think it on your own, to find what you know is the early sound, makes the semantical arguments (ie. who came first, what was the 50s equivalent to punk rock, etc.), irrelevant.

there are a few monk songs on you tube & i see some live footage of them gigging they all shaved on a bald patch which made me laugh but they were a really good band..ive been working on a list called top 60,s garage punk psych rarities.ive been searching the underground music scenes for about 28 years.most of the music is on small independent labels & unknown to the masses.also ive added some of the best lesser known tunes on bigger labels.my list is well over 3500 tunes now.any true music lover is most welcome to join me im adding to my lists weekly.its the best examples of raw & highly original garage & psych ive found if you love raw fuzz guitars organ & effects & hauntingly deep psych.you just found a world you never knew existed & you like me will be blown away.i didnt mean to sound rude in my last comment i just meant there is a world of talent that has never been played on pay to play fake radio if you seriously want to learn about music subscribe to me great post mate you have got some fine music on your uploads..
