It's almost hard to believe Artie escaped years of close association with and temptation by Tony and kept his hands clean. The case of Adriana was probably the clearest example of how tempting Tony and Christopher's lifestyle was to him...and to a large extent Tony probably would've enabled him to go all-out had he wanted.

I don’t know. Maybe. But, Tony did seem to have a separation. He wanted to keep Artie as his “clean” friend. He knew his lifestyle would burn Artie out real quick, and then there’d be no way to protect him once he was involved directly. Same with AJ. He didn’t want it for his son. He didn’t want it for Jackie Jr. I think as much as he resented Jackie Jr. (and Christopher) in the end, he kind of saw them as his examples of why he shouldn’t let people he genuinely cares about into that world.
