I actually think he was sincere when he regretted how his and Chris' relationship was almost always contentious. Of course, Tony shuts him down. Was that because Tony had the same problems with Chris and didn't want to accept it, or maybe because he actually didn't want Paulie to keep beating himself up? The beauty of this show was that it was so well written and acted that you can always see something differently.

Sal would make a full recovery. Beansie got it the worst, I think. Some runners-up: Vito's brother (beat up by Mustang Sally) , Blundetto's old associate (the one Phil pulled out of the car and beat the crap out of), Sunshine (quick death, but unnecessary), Hesh's son (beat up by Gerry "The Hairdo") .

@@thetrainmon Yea, but with Sal I'm talking about beyond the injury, how he got stuck doing everyone's lawn for free, when Paulie really didn't accomplish anything for him anyway. Beansie got it bad, but the other thing about Sal was that he wasn't part of the life, just an outsider innocent guy trying to make a living who screwed by Feech, and then continued to get screwed by everyone who tried to help him with his Feech problem

Paulie was a real softie. Those kids loved him like a stepfather.

The last scene really just hammers home how terrible Tony is for what happened with Christopher when even a monster like Paulie can reflect and lament for doing far less than he did to destroy him
