Memorable scenes of The Sopranos TV Series. It was more than 2 years when James Gandolfini passed away. I miss The Sopranos, I miss Tony Soprano, and I miss James Gandolfini so much.
Sometimes it's good to come back here, and watch his greatest scenes over and over again. He was a very talented and fascinating actor. I hope these videos help to keep his memory
alive.

Is his fate also to be hit at a 3 o'clock angle, or maybe he was the one who ordered the hit? This shows the subtle differences between Tony and Paulie. They're both rather conservative Italian-American Catholic characters who hypocritically engage in murder, theft, and vice. But aside from this, they have different attitudes towards their religion. Tony is more culturally Catholic than anything, he thinks it's important to be one and knows what Catholic sensibilities he's expected to have (or at least appear to have.) But if Tony has any genuine belief in God or the afterlife, then it's something he doesn't devout a lot of thought to. The most we ever of it is when he talks to Melfi about how "soldiers don't go to hell. Only people who're really evil do." In his mind, everything he does in life is either "not truly evil" or justified because he's "soldier." Tony does just enough philosophy homework to rationalize who he is and what he's doing and to argue that if there is afterlife, he's not meant for any kind of damnation. Other than that, he seems to rather not concern himself with it. Paulie is different in just how seriously he takes it. His character has total belief in the afterlife, and wants to avoid eternal damnation for mercenary reasons. That's why he asks Christopher all those follow-up questions as if they're talking about something of tangible importance, because for Paulie IT IS tangible and important.

He even had to delude himself thinking he will pay for his sins, do his time and then is paradise for him when he has to know that if his beliefs are true hell is eternal; his theory about the afterlife is more aligned with some oriental religions in which even the worst sinners eventually will be purged of their karma and be reborn or may even exit the reincarnation cycle altogether; it's funny, he created a whole set of beliefs that would be heretical (some now-extinct offshoots of Christianity actually believed that) and he reached that conclusion exclusively due the most-serving way of thinking, no interest in some true knowledge or belief just a protection racket to save his own ass.

It brings up a lot of Dante's Inferno type questions and answers but I bet Satan in his design of Hell WOULD create different versions of Hell to maximize the suffering for anyone and everyone unfortunate enough to go there. So for an Italian mobster, he would go to an Irish bar where it's St. Patrick's Day every single day and the Romans are constantly losing to the Irish playing dice. You can imagine Irish mobsters probably go to a place where it's like some Italian holiday everyday and where the Italians win every game of dice, etc etc etc.

"What was he wearing" It is kinda ironic because we as the viewers only identify the guy going into the bathroom in the final episode as "the guy wearing the members-only jacket" where it is strongly implied he is the one that wacks Tony.

@ry2950
@ry2950 4 жыл бұрын
@@tonyc8752 The bathroom was at a 3 O'clock angle from Tony. It had a small hallway that led to it, most likely he shot Tony from that hallway because the shot would've been clear. He would've never needed to "come up behind" Tony to successfully execute him.
