Actually, Jon Favreau was kind of a C-list celebrity who at that time was only really known for his roles in the film Swingers. He wasn't the Hollywood powerhouse that he is now. So Christopher wasn't that connected to getting a Hollywood break by associating with Favreau. This episode uses Garrafolo and Bernhardt as well to emphasize the C-list crew of that film.

I love how your view on the characters grows always more nuanced and you appreciate how well-written and complex they all are. What's sad is the guy who played Matthew the friend of Sean, he was gonna be big in Hollywood they saw him as the next big thing when it comes to Mafia movies and such. But he was heavily on drugs and he and his friend committed a robbery and his friend killed a police officer, he was in prison for years and got out good to know he's sober and doing very well

33:49 the show has six seasons basically for contract reasons..but the show is pretty much 7 seasons. There are 13eps per season. But Season 6 is 21eps split up into 2 parts. 12 eps & then 9 eps. Especially towards the end of a super popular series like The Sopranos, networks will do the ‘split season’ thing instead of a new season so they don’t have to renegotiate with the actors/directors/etc for a ‘next season’, etc. And at that point, this show was must-watch TV & storytelling, that had transcended the medium, becoming the groundbreaking/industry-redefining gold standard. Etc I’m so glad you guys recapping the greatest show ever. Great recap & your discussions at the end make your channel unique and can’t miss. Great stuff. Cheers!

There are so many series meme quotes I want to drop in the comments here…but I don’t wanna get ahead of you guys lol. I’ve probably watched this entire series, all 86 eps, at least 2 dozen times and the writing is just so incredibly good. The malapropisms are legendary (these are coming more and more and there’s one character that will have you falling over laughing). The actual humor, the ‘unintended’ situational humor, the tension, the resolution, etc It’s absolutely the best.

Those 2 were just waaaay too eager. Tony and all those guys were eagerly wanting new guys, tough guys, who could work. And those 2 could’ve been moving up but they were too stupid to realize it’s takes a while doing the ‘unglamorous’ busy work. But if you shut up and do the work, you’ll move up and be depended on. But these 2 are so impatient even with a pretty normal trajectory for any ‘career’, they can’t just shut up and do the work. They are too dumb. So they go out of their way to talk to Tony in the bathroom & when they’re going to bust up the workers rally a few eps earlier, act impulsively & over the top like here and the pump-n-dump scheme. Too hot headed and unable to just shut up and do what they ask…even as their actual dream employer (the mob + Tony) is always looking for more guys and is bringing them along (at a pace that seems pretty normal, regardless of the career).

Kind of off topic, but I remembered a movie that you should watch. Return of the Living Dead! It has all the stuff that I'm seeing you reviewing: it's from the 80's, it has lots of practical effects, it's very fun, it's scary, but it's horror with comedy, Actually, you should do the first 3 movies in the series (the other follow ups are very cheap direct-to-dvd movies and are barely watchable). The jacket was not a good faith gift. Richie gave it to Tony hoping Tony would wear it and he (Richie) could tell their friends how he got the jacket (beating up a guy the neighborhood with the tough rep) and make himself look like a bad ass. It was actually a ploy to undermine Tony. Tony realized this and gave the jacket away.

I always thought it was Richie's way of creating strife and conflict out of nothing, which seems to be his shark like way of operating. He gave Tony an ugly, ostentatious jacket which obviously didn't suit him and which he's probably not going to wear, therefore giving Richie an excuse to get pissed off. He seems to thrive on having a chip on his shoulder, holding grudges, and hating people. With the jacket gift he subconsciously engineered a situation in which he is the aggrieved victim who has been insulted, but it was inevitable for it to turn out like that somehow.

These two episodes are excellent. In ep. 7, Livia has one of my all-time favorite lines to AJ: “It’s all a bunch of nothing. What makes you so special?” Brilliant. Actually, the relationship between AJ and Tony will get very deep. It actually winds up being one of my favorite storylines in the series. Love this show.
