This is so true, the difference between Kansas and Southeastern Oklahoma is crazy, they think you're being fake or that you're weird for talking to strangers. They hate sir and ma'am and I don't really know why, but I've gotten complaints from my job for saying that. A lot of the youth say "y'all" to sound cool but they don't use it right.

What I call grocery store of drug store friendly. Many people are also judgemental and opinionated, especially with lifestyle and religion. When it comes to genuine help and real relationships I still prefer the Northeast.

That's because you people don't care about anyone but yourself. That's why the West sucks!

People act like we don't exist. You come there acting stank and callous, you will get told about yourself. Relational and openness is required, community oriented. If you entered anyone house, you needed to announce yourself to everyone in the resident. I grew up with a slower pace and pride in being hospitable and respectful. Thanks Gramma. And if you were ever oarticui disrespectful, you getting your ass whooped. I have had the privilege of summer visits, with different family in the south. Racism is everywhere. However respect and compassion is the requirement. We look out for each other over there. I can't stand appropriators, who don't know what they talking about but just do things for clout. Humble yaself.

Because their "hospitality" is all show. Southerners are just really good at appearing well mannered. "Good manners" is just another name for "being considerate", and Southerners don't get this. They think it's all about the showy stuff like saying "sir/ma'am" and saying "hello" to strangers. THAT'S why southerners are bigoted but say they care about manners

Woooordddd thank you thank you. I've been thinking this for a while now. I found this video because I literally looked up southern hospitality. In trying to find a video on what someone thinks about it. Like how the hell does everyone say southern hospitality but yet the racism is the worst there. Either southern hospitality is a fake term or it's real and the only reason why it exists is because they tryna cover something up or make people forget that they demolished slavery last

Whoever made this had never, ever lived in the south, and has gotten all their info from watching Andy Griffith. Simply ridiculous.

Wrong when I was in Alabama a few years ago a Paraguayan friend and I were treated just fine. I'm an Argentine Jew and we were treated just fine by the white southerners everywhere we went.

Paul Cheek Canadians are pretty reserved though (negative politeness) compared to US Southerners which are more willing to strike up a conversation with you (positive politeness).

@@pj5295 Exactly being an introvert mysellf I found myself lost in Texas and the locals were more than willing to take me there. Also if you're a guest in a Southerners home you are treated like family during your stay.

If they're so friendly why do they have so much crime? Can't you get robbed, beat up, or shot in New Orleans, Memphis, or Atlanta? I don't call any one those things friendly, can't you also go to jail much easier there then you can in Northern states? I don't call putting people in jail over nothing friendly, I don't think anybody down there is any more likely to shelter a stranger then they are up north, southern hospitality is a lie!
