So apparently a lot of people think the waterbender they were searching for was Hama but I still think it was Katara based on how the conversation went. Actually the waterbender in question was Katara. From how the story is narrated it seems as though after Hama was captured, they realized that there was still one southern waterbender left. Keep in mind that it took Hama decades to escape since she had to master her bloodbending. I know it looks like Hama escaped in a short amount of time, but she said it took her years to master her bloodbending technique.

He helped organise Nazi actions against Jews with the same sort of detached commitment to his work you might find in any contemporary professional bureaucrat. The psychiatrist who examined Eichmann found him sane and aware of his actions. And honestly, I think that just made Eichmann's commitment to the Reich even more disturbing.

I love how they all have a different view. Aang lost his whole culture but it was to a faceless army. But as a Air Nomad he has very spiritual views and doesn’t hold the Fire Nation accountable. He forgives them. The people who did the crime are long dead. Sokka has the exact same experience as Katara but deals with it in a healthy way. He has no interest in pursuing this man. He uses comedy to deal with the pain. Zuko grew up in the harsh Fire Nation with Ozai so is fine with murdering people who deserve it. And he is a new good guy so his morals are still rocky. Katara internalizes betrayals and can’t let it go. She is very emotional and wants to punish the man who did it. Yeah it was fucking bullshit… I mean bloodbending without the full moon is just pointlessly overpowered. Same with the was they use lightning. Fucking LIGHTNING. Which was supposed to be hard to learn but every firebender does it at the workplace. metalbending is also way too popular and easy to learn. That should require absolute talent or at least mastering the element. But no, all the officers can do it(while they’re wearing metal i mean wtf that’s the dumbest shit) ok so anyway this was my ptsd talking after the random nonsence that korra has

@@broidontknow7648 in Korra's defense the show is set decades in the future where the nations the class system is nearly phased out to where it's easier for the common bender to learn techniques like lightning. I'd also chalk it up to genetic/technology development that the people adapted to use such techniques too
@broidontknow76484 жыл бұрын
@@TheGoldenAlchemist86 Nope. I am sorry but you explained nothing. The class system has nothing to do with something that is supposed to be difficult. Also there is a way to do it, a set of movements which they completely abandoned in korra (now of course you can pull some random bullshit out of nowhere that they found out how to do it but really you can explain plothole and inconsistency ever like that). Same thing with metalbending. Okay Toph taught a few people. The porblem is that it’s way too popular for such a unique way to earthbend. And my problem with bloodbending is not the family part, it’s the fact that someone can actually bloodbend without the full moon. What kind of development are you talking about, they are just simply overpowered, that’s all. Don’t take any of these personally please, I just really don’t find Korra consistent and well developed as much as the last airbender which is such a shame. The show is still a good show nonetheless but I find it unworthy to be the sequel of the last airbender( and yes, that was the intention, as much as people like to say that korra is its own thing).

I just realized that Katara's mother is still wearing her necklace when the raid happens. And in the episode "The Prisoner" back in s1 she mentions her mother gave her the necklace. So Kana would've had to have been alive for a short period of time before succumbing to her wounds in order to ask someone to give her necklace to Katara, OR either Gran Gran or her dad Hakoda had to give it to her to comfort her. Sad Fact: The Southern Raiders were created as a result of Hama's use of bloodbending to escape. The Fire Nation learned on that day that the Southern waterbenders could not be taken lightly. The Southern Raiders were created to keep watch on the Southern Water Tribe. Any time new waterbenders sprang up, they would go in and take them all prisoner (and most likely put them to death... "I'm afraid I'm not taking prisoners today"). When Hakoda and Kya found out Katara was a waterbender, Hakoda went all over the South Pole trying to find a master for Katara, but he came up empty handed. Not only were there no masters, there were no waterbenders at all. Katara was the first one they'd had in a long while. But apparently, the news that Chief Hakoda was searching for a waterbending master caught the ear of the wrong person who then snitched to the Southern Raiders. If he's looking for a master (and he's not gonna find one), then there's a prospective student somewhere needing their attention. Hence, why they attacked Hakoda's village, and why Yon Rha made a beeline for his house.

There are some things about forgiveness that I think Aang could have explained a little better: Ultimately, what people don't always understand is that forgiveness isn't about letting someone who did something bad get off the hook (in a strict word sense, it would be - like when you forgive a debt, but we're talking about just the personal aspect of forgiveness). What is the opposite of forgiving someone? Holding resentment - feelings of anger, bitterness, and hatred toward a person for an action they took. So forgiving is literally just letting go of those feelings. It's deciding that you will not longer be angry or bitter about what they did. Does that mean you now trust that person? No. They need to earn that trust (as Zuko did). Forgiveness involves understanding that you can't always control what other people do, but you CAN control how you respond to it, and how it makes you feel. Forgiveness is finding peace regardless of the actions of others, regardless of what becomes of them due to those actions. You choose to push forward, living your own life, without such terrible feelings like hate and anger holding you down. It's hard, like Aang said. But you could argue that living a life being weighed down with bitterness, hatred, and anger is even harder. We just need to let go, and make the best of our current situation.
@kursor524 жыл бұрын
I agree with everything you said. The reason I think they didn't explain it this way is because it's a kid show and no offense to kids some of them are smart but most wouldn't be able to grasp this concept. They need to keep it simple.

This episode was part of an event called "Countdown to the Comet". The new episodes of Avatar began airing on July 14, starting with "The Western Air Temple", followed by "The Firebending Masters", The Boiling Rock parts one and two, "The Southern Raiders", "The Ember Island Players", and finally Sozin's Comet parts one through four. The dark coat Katara wears while sneaking into the Southern Raiders' base is an item in the game Legends of the Arena and is named "Long Coat". When Katara is seen as a child in flashbacks, her winter coat with the crescent moon closely resembles the winter coat she wore in the Northern Water Tribe while mastering waterbending with Master Pakku. This is the only episode where Kya's name is mentioned and Hakoda is the only person to actually say her name out loud. In this episode, waterbending is seen performed as influenced by two primary opportune factors, that is the presence of a full moon and rain. In addition, waterbending is also seen under the influence of strong emotion, yet another strong factor that determines the potency of the art's use. Aang shows lack of concern when Toph and Haru earthbend a tunnel into an Air Nomad painting and never mentions anything about the destruction of the atrium and fountain. This contrasts his thoughts about the destruction of the air temples in "The Northern Air Temple". However, it should be noted that the mechanist was making changes to the air temple for his own benefit, while Toph and Haru were trying to help escape a Fire Nation attack. Gilak appears in the background during Sokka's flashback. This is the last time a majority of the main characters encounters Azula during Avatar: The Last Airbender. After this, only Katara, Zuko, and Appa see her until The Search Part One. The turbulent weather and moody lighting in this episode represent Katara's emotional state. According to the commentary of this episode, the sound used when Sokka sucked the flower into his mouth was a power drill.

Once again stating this is my favorite non-finale episode of the series (right next to The Storm, The Avatar and the Firelord, and Zuko Alone, and DOBS). Elizabeth Ehasz is probably the best writer in the series- if rumor has it, it's a shame that the script got edited down; I think it would have been best as a two-parter like the boiling rock, because it really captures a deep, nuanced message. I think that even though Aang basically spells out the "violence isn't the answer" message, I think that as far as it is *shown* that isn't what was going on here, truly. Yes it was a journey for revenge, but ultimately it was a journey for closure that Katara needed to have, and that's exactly why Zuko was probably the best person to enable that. He didn't tell her what to choose, as much as the dialogue made him seem like he was leaning toward violence (and tbh it's probably what he thought Katara *wanted* hence why he was ok with supporting it and deflecting Aang's suggestions), he ultimately was a side character in this whole thing to offer her the opportunity. He is a character who has done a lot of heavy choices and in the end he had to have experience change his way of life, even the guiding hand of his uncle was just a hand that pointed to different options. Ultimately the choice was his. So he figured Katara (and really, everyone in the group) would have to do the same, he would just act as a guide so they can make their choices. Also in terms of Zuko wanting the fold the guy, just remember that he literally made a similar decision when confronting Ozai. He could have taken out all his anger at him, both for the trauma he endured and for being responsible for his mother's banishment-- but he did the exact same thing, he walked away, because he felt that that was what would give him closure. He knew Ozai's defeat HAD to be from someone else and killing for personal reasons wasn't the answer FOR HIM. But yeah best Katara episode that solidified her as my top three. I love the subversion we only get glimpses of finally seep out. She really did need this, and now she can move onward in her life.

the writers always planned an Azula redemption with Zuko as a guide for after season 3, the series just happened to end before they got around to it. Which makes sense considering she's the younger sibling and a 14 year old girl groomed to be a weapon. Katara finally forgives Zuko after the events of The Western Air Temple When Sokka is recounting the day his mother died in a flashback, the black snow can be seen. The black snow was previously seen in "The Siege of the North, Part 1" and "The Puppetmaster" and, according to Sokka, warns of the Fire Nation's approach. During this flashback, he says, "Many of the warriors had seen the black snow before and they knew what it meant: a Fire Nation raid." This is the first and only time in the series where viewers see Kya's face and hear her voice. In "The Swamp", only her back is depicted. Katara's line in regards to Yon Rha, "Now that I know he's out there, now that I know we can find him, I feel like I have no choice," reflects Hama's line in "The Puppetmaster" in regards to bloodbending: "The choice is not yours; the power exists. And it's your duty to use the gifts you've been given to win this war!", as Katara later uses bloodbending on the man she believes is responsible for her mother's death. This is the last time Katara uses bloodbending in the series and the first time she willingly bloodbends as opposed to doing so out of necessity. This is the first time Zuko says Aang's and Katara's names out loud. This is the first time Jet has been mentioned on screen by name since "Lake Laogai". Whaletail Island was first mentioned in "Lake Laogai" as a place where Appa could have been taken after being bought on the black market. Zuko is the second person to push Katara out of the way of falling rocks, the first being Aang in "The Cave of Two Lovers". Aang's line, "Is it your turn to take a little field trip with Zuko?" is a direct reference to the previous three episodes, in which Aang and Sokka both went on individual journeys with Zuko, which inevitably ended with the two bonding. This is the first time Aang has a noticeable moral dilemma with killing the Fire Lord. This is the third time that the Western Air Temple is attacked by the Fire Nation, the first being when Sozin launched an assault on the air temple one hundred years earlier, and the second when Combustion Man attacked the temple. This is the last time Aang is seen fighting Azula in the series. Gilak briefly appears standing behind Hakoda during Sokka's flashback. His hair is darker and his beard shorter than when he reappeared during the North and South trilogy which is set around 102 AG, showing how he aged since 94 AG.
