There are so many negative comments on this movie but I truly loved it! Its an original story, yes some bits are a little cheesy but the world needs cheesy/heartwarming right now and this offers it in a modern, new way! Would defo recommend this, loved every second :)
@twstf89055 жыл бұрын
Yes!!! The world could definitely use a little cheesy right now! All subtlety has evaporated. Everything is overextended and we're desensitized to just about EVERYTHING. A good, old fashioned love story every now and then is fine by me. 👍

I got so much emotion because I was too a foster kid for some years of my life and I know how it felt and I feel like this movie was made just for me. I fell in love on the earth, the nature we are living in. The oceans, the rains, the mountains. Putting it on my favorite movie list! Really recommended it.

I hate how critical some people can be about movies, like who cares if it's not based off of reality (I mean duh, it's about a boy born on Mars??) or small errors like if the government would actually allow this or that. IT'S A MOVIE FOR PETE'S SAKE AND IT'S FREAKING ADORABLE-- JUST ENJOY THE CUTE LOVE STORY. And if you're not a fan of love stories that's your problem. Why are you here, criticizing one movie, love stories aren't going to end. Just ignore them :)
@bobbiusshadow69855 жыл бұрын
I clicked thinking it would be something else..... nonetheless, it looks like a good premise for a love/slice of life story
@janetfayard6724 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a love story and one of my favorites. But it also poses the theoretical question or questions if such a things could be possible . Scientists are just scratching the surface of what spending time off the planet for 365 days in a row can do with the human body. I think this movie did an excellent job with the human aspects of what could potentially happen if we ever become a multiple planet species. Remember when Gardner was in Hugo with Chloe? Also a great film.

@loveyourselfxx h With all due respect, this was one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched in my entire life (mind you, I’ve watched a lot of movies). I know it’s a matter of opinion, but I can’t understand why somebody would like this movie. I don’t mind romantic movies, but this was just annoying and cringy. It made me pretty happy to have a film that doesn't follow traditional science fiction tropes of being survival or horror. This was a bit cheesy but that's what happens with romantic stories, and this is certainly a unique setting for one. I applaud the film makers for trying something different and for going so far as to have some of the science of having a martian born person go to earth.

I think it's an interesting plot. We tend to take so many things on Earth for granted but imagine experiencing this world for the first time. There's ugliness and suffering but there's beauty everywhere. Nothing's wrong with looking to the stars for a new home but it's humbling to know there's a world like ours amidst the vast number of harshly uninhabitable planets out there. We're lucky to be here at all.

Asa Butterfield certainly can make you believe in the characters he portrays in his films. It's beneficial to have a strong supporting cast as well. This is a different kind of movie, but one that is familiar as well. Story was awesome and engrossing, I know this when I laugh out loud with the characters when they find themselves in funny situations, or even tear up when they encounter heartbreak. This movie has quite a few of both of those moments, you will become attached to the characters and find yourself wishing for continuation. Alas though, every good movie unfortunately must have an ending. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you are missing out. I give it a fair 7/10-08/10.

We still don't know who his father is, and we still don't know if he survives or not - maybe it's a tragedy film or something and he dies at the end. And if he survives, how come? Just saying, it doesn't reveal everything... but it does contain a lot of spoilers.
@klioseth43368 жыл бұрын
That's like the worst possible way to bring that concept. astronauts going to colonise mars would not only have very intrusive medical checks beforehand but would be held in quarantine before leaving as to make sure none of them are contaminated by any virus/sickness. No way a baby could be undetected. What's more is that a trip to mars takes 6 months give or take in very precise windows so why would she be giving birth in space? either a 3 months old fetus was undetected or the director has no idea of how physics work. The sad thing is that there are so many cool things about the speciation issues of sending humans to mars the had to waste it on this crap...

agree, but Mars propaganda has started. Many companies like SpaceX and ULA are going to send people to Mars by 2030 and in this trailer you can see NASA's future rocket SLS and SpaceX' Dragon V2 capsule.

You can't real time chat from mars where radio signals take 20 minutes. An the trailer clearly state they kept him a secret from the world, so no he wasn't allow video chats with real people.
@dennisreynolds13418 жыл бұрын
Yeah. They even tell you how it'll end, subtly. They both end up happily living together on Mars in the end.

Dennis Reynolds How can this film have a sad ending, that would be cruel.

Wow, humans must've discovered faster than light communications for that kid to have real time video chats with someone on Earth with no delays. I guess Eric Cartman would be disappointed that Mars doesn't have "shitty wifi" :'D

Wow, you didn't notice the Quantumcom logo plastered prominently on every video chat in the movie. Quantum entanglement - look it up.

I once read a scifi short way back when I was in middle school that had a very similar story to this. I can't remember what it was called, but it had a similar premise except the main character was born on the moon instead and wanted to go to Earth despite the fact that her bones probably couldn't handle Earth gravity. Anybody know the name of that scifi short?
