Can't believe how different my Wenge neck/SS fret guitar with a Pine body sounds compared to this. It has almost no low mids. This guitar sounds fantastic. I built a Jagcaster Baritone with a Black Limba body that's lighter weight than it and is sounds much more like this guitar, and people say wood doesn't matter

How does the string play feel? My biggest gripe with Strats is that the strings feel like rubber bands because the bridge saddles have a lot of side to side action? I've never been interested in a humbucking strat because I still can't play metal with those loose feeling strings.

I got one in october, with the Floyd rose. Best guitar I ever had. I own a Fender Strat, Gibson LP, Ibanez jem and few others, but this Shecter is far the best I got. Playabilty is phenomenal, ZERO noise, stainless steel frets, the wenge neck feels amazing and it's SO versatile!

Hey I won an American fender Strat deluxe. Strat feels like a refined high end guitar. Maple neck very twangy. I'm not a huge fan of Floyd Rose trem cuz I'm not used to them. How do you find the Floyd on the Schechter is there space for your hand? Do you find that your picking in the gap between the pickups? How's the action on the guitar? I like the fender neck I don't find them thick. I have a 25th anniversary rg550 that prob going to sell it has original Floyd which I hate and I find the neck is way to thin. Does the Schechter feel like a Strat?

@@GeorgeLiavas Hey man, that is a good question!! I have an American Standard 1998 and has been my favorite for years! I chose the Shecter for the same reason, had a Jem 555 but find the neck too thin sometimes. So, the Shecter DOES feel like a strat, to me the shape of the neck is really close to a fender BUT the Wenge neck is INSANE… the wood feels so smooth! It was Way above my expectations. Action is pretty similar to my fender too, I like it kinda low. I had Gotoh for years and felt the Floyd Rose from my Shecter way better in regards to comfort, when I rest my palm over the bridge. No issues with picking, but the double humbuckers won’t sound JUST like a strat. I like the pickups, but would rather have a seymour kit (JB + 59). The Shecter ones are pretty Nice but too warm to my taste. I believe this Guitar is unbeatable in this price range! Check out some vídeos in my Instagram: @fernando_toriani

This is an extremely good looking guitar. Usually, I am not that much of a fan of Schecters designs but this is gorgeous. The body is beautiful, the neck fits extremely well.

Same, I love metal and playing metal or hardcore type riffs, but a lot of schecters look too "fancy" and obviously metal oriented shapes + headstocks. However, this one looks badass, like it can chug, squeal, shred with the best of them, but is a bit more understated at the same time, which I love. It definitely looks "metal" but wouldn't look out of place in any kind of band, really. The clean tones are gorgeous, too. I really like the parallel neck pick-up clean. I ordered one today, this exact one, and I'm so excited for it to arrive tomorrow!!

*I was looking for a hardtail. Watched Darrell's review of the Charvel Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2 24 HH HT in white. Yes a very impressive guitar. I have a Charvel DK24 HH 2PT in Satin Burgundy Mist & a Charvel DK24 HH FR in Root Beer. I though I'd make it a Charvel trifecta with the hardtail in Robin's Egg Blue.* *..but I walked out of the store with the Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic HT (Ziricote). In the end the pickups were the difference. I just didn't get along with the active Fishman Fluence Open Core's. The pickups sounded a bit mushy to me. The Schecter USA Sunset Strip & Pasadena pickups put a big smile on my face. I played the guitar though a Fender Princeton Re-issue, Mesa Boogie Recto-Verb 25 & Suhr Badger 30.*

I own about a dozen Schecters - never a single issue with them. Love Schecters. I have 2 of the exact model Darrell is reviewing (new at opportune discount, so hell... 2); Fantastic Axe, just love them. Super tactile feel to neck, body, stainless fret work. Joy to play, and rewards with excellent tones. Lifer guitars - can't see why I'd part with them. Extoic woods, so each one unique. Nice figured patterns on mine.

This is a fantastic guitar, I have one in the ziricote finish and would really recommend them. They use sort of mid range pickups so can handle lots of styles of music easily and the woodgrain really stands out and will be unique to your model - mine has a section that looks like leopard spots. Also the ziricote model has covered humbuckers if that's your preference.

I got one of these a little over a week ago. It's the Ziricote topped one but the everything else is essentially the same. It has pickup covers and metal knobs but the rest is the same. I got it because of the frets and the fixed bridge. I'm really happy with it.

I like how you don't focus on mostly expensive guitars...the guitars you review are attainable for most players. $1250 is reasonable for the quality of the materials and construction of this guitar. I just preordered the Schecter AM-6 Aaron Marshall model and it is right in this price pocket with many of the same specs. I can't wait for it to arrive!

I have two schecters. A sun valley super shredder and a Diamond series. One with a maple neck and one with an ebony neck. They are amazing guitars, finishes, electronics and frets are excellent. The super shredder has the classic sounding EMGs. I can cover all types of music on that guitar. My Diamond is a beast as well. I keep it tuned down to drop C. I could go on. I’ve owned some expensive custom guitars but I’ll go to my Schecter every time.

@@bakarenibsheut12 Heya man, first off, it’s a really great guitar. But yeah, that dog is heavy! Mine is almost 9 1/2 pounds. I mostly play seated so no big deal but standing, well, thats up to you but for sure heavier than most. I have a hard tail so a trem version might even be heavier on average. Good luck man, it’s not cheap so get a good return policy or be ok with the weight. Cheers!

I love the necks on those guitars , super fast like Ibanez...My most expensive one is the Synyster Gates custom S and it's my least favorite actually , I'm not a fan of the roll off style fretboard. The sustaniac is pretty cool though and it's got the FR1000 trem....

I have the ziricote finish FR version. Its a gorgeous feeling and playing guitar. The neck feel is incredible, so slick. You forgot to mention the weight, which took me by surprise when I got mine- its well over 9lbs. Not quite into Les Paul territory, but damn close. I'm used to it now but coming from my other Schecters which hover around 7-7.5 lbs, it was quite a difference. Great guitars anyhow.

I've been a fan of Schecter guitars, ever since I picked up a red, 1985 Schecter Mercury from a local pawn shop. Everything on it was original. The only thing that was wrong with it was the piece that holds the tremolo bar was broke. I paid $100 for it and the Fender hardshell case it was in. I still regret getting rid of it.

Hey Darrell, I don't know nearly as much as I should about Schecter guitars but I am curious about their choice of pickups. It seems like they're always favoring humbuckers over the alnico single coils. Is it just me or do they typically favor the humbucker over the single coil? As a side note, I wanted you to know that I love all your videos Darrell! Thank you for all of your hard work, and your willingness to keep us all up to date with all of the different guitars and setups that are currently being offered! great review Darryl i almost bought this exact guitar 🎸 but went with the schecter Nick Johnston HSS instead,what i love about the schecter company is that they offer many models in a lefty version and great bang for the buck their strat style guitars puts Fender to shame with features that Fender doesn’t offer unless it’s their $1800 american strat version

I just bought one of these , it’s the darker version with the hip shot hard tail . After a little wheeling &dealing I got it for about $300.00 less than the listed price plus the free shipping. Every time I hear a truck go by I’m looking out the window to see if it’s the big brown truck pulling up , after watching your review I’m pretty excited for it to get here already…..

I remember commenting you should get one of these on the channel a while back. Great guitars! It’s a little sad seeing it now because I had one on layaway when it was on sale at a guitar center and when I was making my last payment on it the DM of the store said that layaway didn’t honor sale prices! Said I had to pay $450 extra to bring it home. Couldn’t afford it so I had to cancel my layaway. Super heartbreaking at the time. Would’ve been the nicest guitar I’d ever owned I loved playing it in the store every few weeks when I stopped by. Glad you like yours though! Really under-the-radar guitars imo

my friend has one of these with a floyd rose instead of the goofy looking schecter fixed bridge, its neck profile is great if you have long fingers and thin hands

Great guitar! I have one. Definitely one of my favorites. Might actually keep the stock pickups. Love the neck too. Just a fantastic guitar. Only modded the volume pot to a low friction and a no load tone. Usually I’ll add a bleed but it had one stock!

Darrell, really enjoyed your playing on this episode. I have an '87 Schecter PT Saturn (an early type of super Tele you might say) and have been thinking about getting a modern-era Schecter before long. It's just about down to either this one or their Solo-2 Custom. Very different guitars but both seem to be a lot for the money. Your review of the Super Shredder tonight has been very helpful to me.

Had one of these with a Floyd for a while. Wish I kept it! Wasn't a fan of the pickups, wanted something with super high gain output. Looking back, I could've just swapped the pickups 😅. I think this is the only version of the super shredder without any sort of active electronics at all.
