My fading memory of about 1982/1983 is of being at a friend's house and playing Daley Thompson's Decathlon on the Spectrum and never being able to score much on some of the events, and ok on some of the others, but I don't think we ever got through the game, but it still kept us busy for hours.

@@hongk0ngfu3y ironically, never owned a single console or computer in those times. It was my friends that did and that was the only time I got to play on them. The most I ever had was a Nintendo Donkey Kong handheld game. The first computer I ever had, I bought when I was in my early 20's about '96.

You don’t need the microdrive usb to add your own programs or games available on the net. You can use a regular usb stick. However you will need the format in Fat32 to save and there are comprehensive instructions on the website. However if you want that microdrive experience you can get both a mini and full size versions which are basically standard usb drives with a casing.

Really looking forward to opening my one this Christmas. Don't think I've looked forward so much to a present in decades. The Spectrum had so many weird and wonderful games. I'm looking forward to delving into the likes of ID (Nu Wave), Deus Ex Machina (Automata), some of the text adventures like The Rats, Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde and also some of the new pushed-to-the-limits games like Travel Through Time - Northern Lights. All on a machine that feels right, but should be reliable and convenient. Nice.

That manual looks cool. Would be great if these companies would print a retro magazine format for their systems too. Just something like ZX Spectrum with the odd snarky review and game code in the back (with miss prints) for you to debug/rage over. 😆

I came back to my parents house after i had moved out in the 90s only to find my dad had given mine away. I had 100s of games, joysticks, addon bits the lot. I was not happy.
