the entire Speedflip Cancel technique is purely based on which Airroll you use, Free or Directional one. With Directional Airroll youre supposed to cancel straight down while continue pressing the Airroll button. With Free Airroll you need to cancel to the bottom same direction as the flip to the front. Reason for that is that a diagonal flip doesnt make you perfectly land on your wheels therefore you need to continue the rotation by using airroll. Free Airroll requires the stick to be tilted either slightly left/right to rotate while Directional Airroll automates it.

It doesn't matter if you do the flip cancel down-left, down-right, or straight-down. You cannot affect the left-right part of the flip. You cannot flip cancel left-right, only forward-back. It will affect your air-roll recovery after the cancel animation is over, though.
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
you can definitely affect it! the flip will slow down when cancelling it
@paulowwwwwАй бұрын
No, he is right you can't cancel the side part. But 99% of people ignore it.@@Coach.Stolen
@flo75-of9nsАй бұрын
Yea if you use left and right air roll it's literally useless to cancel diagonally. You cancel by holding the stick at your 6 and you adjust with left or right air roll. So that's the so-called "actually correct guide" huh?
@paranormalbirdmanАй бұрын
@@flo75-of9nsmaybe his stick position after the flip is better for air control or it is the diagonal opposite position that can affect it counterproductive for perfect landing? 🤔 only talking about kickoff scenario.
@Trizzy1914Ай бұрын
It very much does matter, flip cancels are caused by the pitch axis, any direction towards the sides will cause a difference in the flip.
@KrubusАй бұрын
for keyboard speedflips, don't let go of the cancel, it makes u land later and more awkwardly on the ball for the kickoff, use a/d depending on your flip direction to straighten out
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
That's a good call! I can make my way to kickoffs just fine with my method but it's true that it sometimes feels a bit shaky (also bc I am not a KBM main). I will give it a try :)
@indoraptor236Ай бұрын
This is mostly true, except for one thing. If you let go of the cancel for a split second and then press it again, with the right timing it will perfectly simulate the speedflip. However if you let go of the cancel without pressing it again, yes, you will land awkwardly. But mastering that split second let-go of the flip cancel is how you master speedflips on keyboard. (I'm speaking from experience, I play on KBM and speedflips are my most consistent mechanic)

Immediately figured out the issue for me: I learned to play with air roll left bound to Lb and air roll right bound to Rb and because it's directional air roll, I don't have slide bound to it. so that explains why it was always so hard for me to get the landing right. Time to relearn my bindings :')

I need help with the quick reset pops that everyone does now. Where they get the reset, quick pop it forward and can keep on progressing into more stuff. I can't hit them consistently and from watching people do them I don't get what I'm doing wrong. For me I think it's down to the angle I passionately brush my belly into the ball at. Also if I should be flipping forward or on a diagonal?
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
Well, for that you need to learn dodge control, since learning how to cancel it will help you to hit the ball towards where you want. On the next video I will talk about dodge airdribble, in which I will also go over dodge control but not in depth. If you want to learn more about this, feel free to book a session with me!
@crayder1100Ай бұрын
I think it's important to note... if you master this much and continue to just go straight on and be predictable, then your speedflips will be useless even in diamond and lower. A regular kid playing rocket league for the first time could beat that just by hanging back or doing a regular kickoff.
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
Yeah, the most important part of the kickoff is not the approach, but the challenge, I will explain it in next Friday's video!
@DontBlinkRL19 күн бұрын
the point isn't to go straight into the ball though its to get their first. you still want to be goal side of the ball when you do the kickoff just watch a pro 1v1 match
@crayder110019 күн бұрын
@@DontBlinkRL It seems you're missing my point. Even some pros have the fault I'm talking about. They just go straight and be extremely predictable, defeating the point of getting there faster. Thus are really easy to beat on kickoffs. He does actually explain what I mean indirectly in the next video.

2:17 How does that make any sense? There are no sideways flip cancels, so I don't think a diagonal direction on the cancel makes any difference. I personally cancel straight down, and it works great. I also hold directional airroll and powerslide right after my flip so I don't land slightly sideways.
@sevpro500Ай бұрын
He probably confused, the thing is it does not cancel your momentum but your movement, try doing a front flip and then perfect flip cancel backwards, the momentum of the flip is still there, the thing that changes is the position of your car (depending on how fast you cancel). Also it does affect the way you cancel after a speedflip, same concept, try doing a front flip with a perfect cancel and then start cancelling more towards the left/right (do the test on 10 aerial sens to feel it). If you wanna know like why that happens just check maktufs vid about flip cancel (yes he yaps a lot but Trust) Small mistake from grandpa Stolen who forgot to take his pills 😅
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
It's true that there are no sideways flip cancels as a mechanics, but you can definitely tell that the flip will be slower if you cancel the sideways momentum. On the other hand, if you keep your joystick towards the direction you are already spinning, it will help you to keep that momentum, making you allign with the ground more quickly, so making the whole speedflip slightly faster.
@EasilySteezily23 күн бұрын
@Coach.Stolen when I do the flip, cancel straight down, I immediately as I cancel I start holding my DAR. Does that effectively work the same as canceling down and to the side? Or would it still be faster to cancel down and to the same side as the flip, even with DAR held immediately? Edit: nvmd, FreaKii explained the part that was confusing me in his comment.
@Coach.Stolen23 күн бұрын

I use Free Air Roll and just adjust for landing. It works just fine for my level C3-GC1. Most people I know use directional air roll though. I don’t really notice much of a difference except the way I do it requires more precision movement. I also use Square deadzones and an overclocked controller though which seems to mitigate that inconsistency significantly.
@SteelosoАй бұрын
Oh I think I understand what I got confused on, when you say speed flip, you mean the shenanigans, from jump to landing, I only thought about the flip itself. If that's so then I do use air roll, only when the flip ends to ajust my car for landing

starting on different sides on a kickoff, I think you want to left speed flip on the right side and vice versa, do whatever you are best at in the middle

@@ca3772 hmm, I've been speedflipping to the left on both sides and can't really notice any difference in how fast I get to the ball, am I missing something? @@thosko98no you don’t need to learn both sides. Think about it once you do the speed flip you already landed straight on the ground. Making the end result the same.

It makes a difference more on recoveries, the versatility on doing speedflip both ways during counterattacks, or preflipping towards a first touch that can enable an off wall play or a boost take/starve can make a difference in-game. Its still not like something that a lot of people do and not even necesary to reach SSL or high GC. But can still play a huge part on your gameplay speed and (I think), can make you feel faster and more efficient compared to other ppl. Also remember to give Grandpa Stolen his pills.@@JoeGaming2112
@Coach.StolenАй бұрын
In my opinion, yes, there's a huge benefit. The main one being on the kickoffs, since it allows you to land more centered between the ball and your own net, regardless on which side you start. I will explain this in next weeks video in case you have any doubts!
