What PD1701 are you comparing this to? I am looking at my version 4 with a Matt black dial and dished sub dials , the clasp on the bracelet is virtually the same although it doesn’t taper. It too, has the VK63 movement and is the correct diameter at 42 unlike the Watchdive at 40mm. I’ll agree, the lume is not good, but for 80 bucks it’s half the price of the WD.

It would be extremely helpful if you made a video swapping out the bracelets on the p d and the watch dives. The uncle seiko bracelet fit the pd but protruded from end links a bit

Great review,, great watch but I'll wait for version 2. Hopefully they will... - Reduce the case thickness (if possible); - Use the new logo on the dial (keep CHRONOGRAPH PROFESSIONNAL); - Use the new logo on the crown; - Use the new logo on the clasp; - Perhaps add some engraving on the back case (nothing childish like on the Pagani Design).

I do have pd moons watch but ordered this one as soon as I saw. This is much better than pd, and worth the extra bucks, the key factors to this watch is the dial, crystal, how its integrated also AR coating, sub dials layout, and the bezel. This is long time waited homage. For me personally also the branding is way better than PD. And as it is for the case also like this one more than PD.

I think what bugs me most is the Pagani had the answer to the case design. It’s like they spent so much time on this dial they forgot about the rest of the watch even though the design was right in front of them.

How does the thickness compare to the Omega or Pagani as both seem to have thinner cases and not sure why Watchdives could not do the same

The case is thicker but overall thickness is smaller I am told...having owned all of them at one point or another, I don't feel there is a huge difference... certainly nothing that I noticed anyway.

I have the PD1701 prior to when they made the change to the Tacymetre bezel and I do like it, but as you mentioned the subdial printing is off putting. Also, this watch has the same problem in that none of the subdial match their Speedy Counter parts. Despite having only mineral glass and costing close to $200 USD, I prefer my Alpha 1993. It uses a Seagull ST1903 movement, so you are getting an actual hand wound column wheel chronograph of Swiss descent. (Seagull bought the all the rights and machinery to the Venus Caliber 175 chronograph). As a result, the running seconds hand is in the exact same place on the Alpha as it is on a speedy. The minute subdial is in the exact same place on the Alpha as it is on a speedy. The main difference is that the Venus Caliber 175 was a 30 minute two dial chronograph. The Seagul ST1903 adds a third subdial at 6 which acts as a 24 hour dial which is geared to the hour hand and does not operate as part of the chronograph. Seeing that both the Watchdives and PD1701 also have a 24 hour subdial, I can't really blame Alpha. And there are other homages that use the ST1902 in which the 6 o'clock subdial is simply a mirror of the hour hand. Sure, it matches the markings of the Speedy, but serves no other purpose. If I'm going to have a noncompliant 3rd subdial, I'd rather it do something useful, as in act as an AM/PM indicator or provide you with Military time instead of just being a copy of the hour hand. I have the Watchdives on order. So we'll see. But my ST1903 based speedy homage is still my favorite.

Until Sam Martin or Baltany do a Speedy, this is as good as it gets. I got mine for $100.00, for the price point, it's excellent. Closer to the real Speedy than the PD one. True, the case is thicker, but I think it looks better, and it sinks right into the wrist. 😊👍

The best Speedmaster Homage is Phylida with automatic movement ST1901 and Saphir crystal glass of course but nobody talk about it ! It costs above 200$CA. Pagani is ok too with vk63.

This is not the Speedy I've been waiting for, Pagani is still the best and I love mine. Can't beat the price value. I also hate the Rolex caseback on that WD. Why didn't they give it a standard caseback? It also looks way to blocky or chunky. The white version does look nice though.

The only thing still not quite right is the movement. The right subdial is a 24 hour dial that works with the watch’s actual time, and not part of the chrono complication, which makes it super redundant. To date, there isn’t a movement out there that replicates the chrono complication of the Speedy with the same subdial spacing. It’s a nice homage tho.

Until you see the difference in bracelet quality dial quality the correct sub dials and the correct tachymeter. Seeing this Pagani should sell for 50$. Otherwise this watchdives is mopping the floor with the 1701

If this was 42mm case then I would be ALL OVER IT. 40mm is not right for a speedy homage, the real thing is 42mm and it's one of the things PD got right. Other than that this watch is absolutely on-point, so that's a massive shame.
