Finally got around to watching this video, and great job man. My introduction to THPS speedrunning was watching you play Underground 1 back in 2014 and those were great times. Years later Adelyn's twitter post about her sub 6 would pop up for me on twitter and i checked out the run. Thought the popoff was very wholesome, and i love watching short hyper optimized runs

Before I started this video I watched a 6:42 100% speed run of this game. I’ve always been a casual gamer, and the Tony Hawk series has always been my favorite. One of my favorite things to do as a teenager was 100% run this game, it was never at the competitive level but I’m proud of myself for how many of the strategies and shortcuts I found by myself without the internet. This is the first I’ve heard of a community around this and it’s really cool to see how many people are so passionate about my favorite game!

Great video. While I’ve never followed the community super closely (the closest I got is being apart of the Disney’s Extreme Skate Adventure community), I have watched numerous runs of this game over the years and they have always been super impressive and a lot of fun to watch. This video does a great job at explaining the game, the runs/their evolution and the stories behind the runners. An excellent watch overall.

Tony Hawk is one of my favorite game franchises of all time. I played THUG1, 2, and THAW endlessly on my GameCube growing up. I eventually dipped into the earlier games as well and love them just as much. 1+2 was great! I haven't played THP8 or PG, heard mixed things on them. It's amazing to see a speedrun history on it. TH speedruns always looked insane and the history is rather interesting. I hope we see the future games as well!

It’s nice to see a speedrun game that isn’t just a series of glitches/skips. With the exception of the soft reset minor time save this game is 100% about playing the core game w/ skill. There’s barely a gap between TAS & the WR.
@MR.__GАй бұрын
I always prefer glitchless runs.. and skips that require skill that will make or break your run
@BigGainer9818 күн бұрын
It goes to show how well the game is designed.
@froston418 күн бұрын
@@MR.__G i should clarify that i mean glitches/skips that have a luck factor say a trick that only works 20% of the time. That’s just a super reset heavy game.
@MR.__G18 күн бұрын
@@froston4 lol I messed my wording as well. Meant to say glitchless runs. I do enjoy seeing skips that require skill / good RNG.

Man this brings back memories. I played on ps1. I remember being able to complete all the goals(challenges?) in 1 run. On several different levels. If I remember correctly as long as you kept a truck going like grinds or nollie. The level wouldn't stop. I didn't know about speed running back then. I legit speed ran getting all the goals constantly. I played the sh!t out of this game.

great video I never really did any speedruns of the THPS series besides F Eric, I’m generally new to its community. I started off by playing DESA on my PS2 and Xbox and the first THPS on an N64 at McDonalds at a very young age. I also learned how to skate as a child, although never really did any good things besides luging off a bowl. I then got back into the series with THPS 1 + 2, and THUGPRO. From there, I learned more about its tech and wanted to speedrun one of the games. I decided to run THUG2's classic mode, since the tricks are more lenient compared to older games of the series. I will attempt THPS1, but its jankiness will take several thousands of attempts to get used to.

@ThePackle8 ай бұрын
Yup! I didn't find a good place to put it, but NTSC version 1.1 onwards was called Tony Hawk's Skateboarding (for some reason). PAL regions were already calling it Tony Hawk's Skateboarding. Besides the name change, there are very, very, very few differences, especially in a speedrun setting.

Amazing video! Thanks! I wonder when will someone finally speedrun Project 8 PSP Classic Mode 100%. It is very hard to complete legit without cheats, save stats, buttslaps & focus mode but for speedrun you would of course want to use all of the available & allowed tactics. There could be separate Amateur 100%, Normal 100%, Sick 100% categories and also "Amateur, Normal & Sick 100% in one run" category.
