@@SpideyfanX that would explain why the symbiote invasion is more like a Zombie virus than the typical invasion. It would also explain why Venom was barely in the game as he probably didn't have as big of a role in the initial Zombie plot.

31:29 I like to think they used the bad ending as a base of a what-if DLC where Peter and his army try to wipe out the rest of Sheild and any remaining heroes who stand in his way. Like how Star Wars the forced unleashed did if the players choose the evil ending in those games.

Amazing story, I remember seeing the trailer for this game and telling my dad I wanted it just to be told the version for my ps2 wouldnt match the footage. I think its so cool you won a free copy of the game and played a part in the community in those days. Thank you so much for sharing!

when the fridge did 'everyone' hype this up... whenever there's a chance to get to the story, ppl just turn off their brains and think that the alignment/morality system isn't that deep even though it is deep with it not being black and white... ppl think the same way with inFAMOUS although inFAMOUS is a bit more restrictive... WoS allows you to play any type of character based on Spider-Man and whatever morality you want to go with.... that's why there's 4 endings and not just 2

Great video. Even though it was half an hour long, your editing is so tight that it feels shorter. Plus I really liked your bit on QTEs. They have a bad reputation, mostly because the timing is either too fast or long mashing. I still haven't got this. It commands a hefty price online so I probably never will. At least I own the ps2 version. It's not very good but has lots of cool cameos (Hypno Hustler FTW).

Bro max lvl 11 collecting all 2160 spidertotems was mad but after doing it then playing new game plus made me feel like a god killing enemies before they get a hit on me and swinging throught the city so fast that it freezes to load was so good

I found out about this game in 2010. Only a couple months before Shattered Dimensions. While the latter was cool, this game always had that "Wow Factor" that I hadn't felt since Spiderman 2000 Video Game. Ultimate Spider-Man came pretty close, but just not there. I still haven't felt the same since. Spider-Man PS4 was as close as it could get. But the realism-centric gameplay just does't do it for me. The Webs Messily squiggling out from his wrists, the elasticity of them, the liquid like animations, the wall running and combat, the way spider moved. It just feels right even today. This felt like a comic book coming to life. Not necessarily in terms of aesthetic, but in terms of vibe and gameplay.

Awesome video bro! This is a game I have never even got close to because of how edgy it seemed and that was a big red flag for me because I thought it was all the game had going on, but you gave me some new perspective to it, might even play this someday. Is the Wii version any good? I don't have my PS3 anymore lol I got the same feeling with Ultimate Spider-Man. Since it was also not based on a movie, it felt way more unique to me.

I can’t say much in regards to the Wii version. From my understanding, it’s essentially the same game with a couple of extra bonuses and motions controls. And obviously the graphics take a hit. But I would seek it out if it’s your only way of playing this game.

0:53 Well, I wouldn't call SM3 much of a disappointment or a laughing stock, especially nowadays when Insomniac's taking a lot of ideas from it for Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Hell, a lot of the features from WoS came from SM3 but have been polished in the finer details, and that consists of the giant mech exo-suit models, the sub-story that somewhat involves Fisk and Black Cat and some of the combo moves like Beatdown, Tornado Fist. Even the Web-Strike mechanic was from the SM3 games as a small jumpstart

Peter in this game canonicaly had the suit made for him in Battleworld but thats besides the point... it wasn't a complete accidental reunion as you make it out to be considered that Peter was going against the insurmountable odds which was Venom and MJ was in the damn area elsewell... there's a whole unconditional relationship regarding the Symbiote , Peter and Eddie since Peter made or had someone else make it for him but it also is experienced with Eddie elsewell... i dont get how this is an issue regarding the games story about thr symbiote... furthermore, Eddie establishes that Peter went out with his girlfriend as the line suggests right here "you dare to take the other from me, I'll take the girl from you" - theres a comic where Peter went out with Eddies girlfriend but i don't remember what the comic was called... the symbiote that latched onto Peter was an offspring and not a part of Venom which he's able to spread against New York which both Spidey and Eddie are responsible for...

​@@DiegoReviewsplus the symbiote doesn't CHANGE nor CONTROL you... it always was established that it just amplifies to what's already inside you or amplify the characteristics of its host which includes aggression... something that all humans have... you choose HOW you want to play as Spider-Man... you can utilise the symbiote while being good, you. don't ever have to utilise it at all, hell you can be bad but still not utilise the suit because the symbiote doesn't control you nor change you... you can have a redemption arc which is most likely the canon one that it would be but i feel like if there ever was a WoS sequel coming in a near future which won't happen any time soon although there was a sequel planned but SHABA games got shut down... they should go all out and make it as however you played and how you finished would let you play your own storyline in the sequel instead of making it like inFAMOUS where it did such a poor job of doing that with the 2nd game and taking your save file from the 1st game... the only one that comes to. such complexity is The Witcher games and there's probably more that do this but The Witcher is the most prevalent one that does this...

​@@DiegoReviewsthere's no way you just disregarded the games pacing like that when its properly structured the way a comic book does like Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Origins does... how does Insomniacs opening differ compared to WoS' opening... and since when did the out of context storyline require a slow build up to the catalyst of what the story is telling... bruh the GAME IS ABOUT A SYMBIOTE INVASION... that's the whole marketing of the damn game, how are you going to completely overlook to what the game already set up to do... its the 'how' that's around the set-up to WoS... you really want a slow ass pacing to WoS when the game is literally marketed as the symbiotes invading the damn city... you already get a clear cut answer when Spidey says ''it started just like this 4 days ago, fighting to breathe, to survive" - tell me 'how' that fails to captivate the viewer with barely any set up... once again, tell me 'how' this game has 'poor pacing' because what you said in the video isn't enough when you completely misrepresented and misjudged the opening sequence and i can only imagine going fourth in the video...

Indeed, I never really understood why so many people panned this game, I kind of loved it from the beginning, is it goofy sometimes, absolutely but so are the comics, it felt like a legit game set in that universe where ridiculous stuff happens but the characters are timeless, gread vid as usual D dawg!!!!

Honestly? I wasn't a big fan of Shaba Games (Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix, Shrek Superslam) 360/PS3/Wii version. The combat was FANTASTIC but the gameplay itself was so incredibly repetitive to the point of nauseum. The side missions, which many you HAD to do or you couldn't really level up Spidey, were just EXORBITANTLY mundane while the story mode was honestly pretty short overall if you just mainly concentrated on that and not do too many of the side missions. I actually enjoyed Amaze Entertainment's (Samurai Jack The Shadow Of Aku, Spyro Dark Legacy) PS2/PSP version more as it was a very solid throwback to the 2D Spider-Man games. The best version though IMO is Griptonite Games (Iron Man 2, Captain America Super Soldier) DS version of Web Of Shadows. It was/is a FANTASTIC 2D Metroidvania that is MUCH too overlooked.

man, i love this game, even if it might be goofy af at times, the combat and web swinging is SUPER fun. Web of Shadows and [PROTOTYPE] were MY type of open world games back then, games like this that makes you feel like a complete god by the end of it is something that i wish a lot more games did nowadays, i'll always cherish my memories for these games until the day i die. can't wait for your review on Spider-Man: Friend or Foe :) (JK but i find some strange amount of enjoyment from it, almost like a guilty pleasure)

I would like to mention that the ds game developed by defunked griptinite games is still fun to play! It's like a spidey metroidvania my only gripe is there know alternate costumes lol but theres supposed to be a cheat were you can play as venom and nightcrawler theres also good and bad endings

Web of Shadows in my opinion is a solid Spider-Man game that just got kneecapped by bad voice acting and some... pretty bad graphics, most of the time. Like, just give it a once-over and recast some voice actors and we'd have a truly solid remaster.
