Martin, I have one of those “ crappy “ 260 dollar Ryobi blowers, let me tell you what it has saved me from countless amounts of money waisted on trailer washouts. It works well and has more power than the name brand one I have at the house. I know it’s Ryobi and you want to hate them but in this case it’s a big win.

the one we have at home is a crappy Ryobi. When we bought it way back when the price tag was more like $80

@ sadly those days are gone I believe. I may send you a message in a couple weeks I have an X-15 and I’m curious about upgrading injectors to see if that would help with the mpg. I’d take your advice over a dealership any day as I have not had much luck finding a decent dealership that can think for themselves. I do most of my own work on the truck but there are a few things I don’t have the tools or ability to do them. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I pray 2025 brings us a better freight market. Stay safe out there.

It's a relief to see I'm not the only one getting less than stellar fuel mileage, especially this time of year. I'm happy if I hit 6.2 lately. If you go by some of the online Cummins groups, you'd think that everyone is supposed to be getting 8-9mpg pulling 120,000 lbs uphill both ways.. I actually spend most of my time in the mountain states out west climbing every day.. I've been running a Carrier 2500 for the last 5 years and I've been pretty happy with it. I've had to do a few things to it, but it's a 2010 model with 20k hours. It still gives me great oil samples so I keep running it.. Hope you guys had a Merry Christmas and here's to a long overdue uptick in the coming new year.. I'm sure we'll see you out there somewhere, sometime..
@youtubeisawesome2487Ай бұрын
paccar wind tunnels there trucks for max fuel at 55 you lose one percent for every mph over that. so the faster you go the more it burns.
@ScottWarderАй бұрын
@youtubeisawesome2487 Makes sense. I have a Paccar too and it sucks on mileage as well. I've tried driving at 60 mph and 70 and it seems to just hover around 6mpg regardless..
@TruckingTogether28 күн бұрын
It’s like the diesel pick up truck groups, everyone gets 30mpg with their 500hp f350s etc. but when you buy one and drive it you get 14. In reality the display shows a bit low for what it really does. I think on average the truck does about 6.6-6.8. I love this 2500 on the trailer we just bought, it’s a great unit. Merry Christmas and happy new year.

Merry Christmas, Alice and Martin (and the kidz). One thing I really dislike about some receivers is that WON'T clean up the mess they made when loading or unloading the trailer!! BUT, THEY insist that the trailer be clean when it arrives for loading! How is it receivers can make a mess of a trailer and leave the mess for the driver to clean up?

@ I am excited to see what and how they are going to everything. It is from 1999 with 1,4 million kilometers, so around 950000 miles. I guess most engines need a good overhaul after that length (at least here in Norway with changing weather and climate during a year). I started trucking in 1995 with a Volvo F12 from 1987, going from east to west with lumber. The trip was about 350km (approx 230 miles). It was all up and down mountains and I used around 7 hours if there were no issues on the way. Good old times when customers only cared if you were there in the morning or not 😊👍 Ps. I think you two do some great work on both trucks and making the films on here, so keep up the good work 😊
@TruckingTogetherАй бұрын
I bet you miss that old style trucking there In europe. It’s changed quite a bit just like here with the invasion of cheap labor from the far east. Also thank you!
@slow074Ай бұрын
@ It has absolutely changed a lot here too, up to the point where the government was forced to take action. We had very big increase of accidents during winter with foreign truckers coming here with their 4x2 and 3 axle trailers (useless combo during winter) without tire chains and «hockey puck tires». If they needed roadside rescue, they left without paying, and they hardly got paid any salaries. Now they need tires marked M+S (mud +snow) and chains ready to use when they cross the border into Norway. Most trucks are now 6x2 with liftable tag axle. Road rescue can withhold both truck and trailer (including load)until money for the rescue is transferred. But the biggest change is that when foreign truckers are transporting loads that are both loaded and unloaded in Norway, they are to be paid by Norwegian standards. There was a Lithuanian company that tried to cheat their drivers by paying them Lithuanian salary in Norway a few years ago, and that cost them around 15 million USD split between the rest of the salary to the drivers, extra compensation for the drivers, paying the drivers attorneys and fines to the Norwegian government. That company left Norway within a year. The system is absolutely not perfect, but it has made some changes (and also increased the road safety for everyone).

We don’t get anything near that. High 6s but we run heavy and usually run close to 70.
@sachadee.610428 күн бұрын
@@TruckingTogether speed is expensive. Driving at 60 mph instead of 70 mph can save you up to 9% in fuel costs. Every 5 mph over 50 mph is like paying an additional $0.25 per gallon of gas. For every hour spent driving over 60 mph, your truck’s fuel economy decreases by approximately one mile per gallon. Going from 65 mph to 75 mph will increase your fuel consumption by about 20%. The difference between driving at a moderate speed versus speeding is enough to determine how many miles you can cover on a single tank
