I first read this book in 1980. The Lord showed me many things by the Holy Spirit and reading this book. I read it off and on for many years. I finally finished it in 1994 or so. I have purchased it for love ones and children. The book is a guide and confirmation of many experiences that you may go through. Highly recommended.

The Word of God issues supreme importance on the spirit. We must know what God means by soul and spirit and why He divides soul and spirit. 1 Thess 5:23 shows us that we are divided into 3 parts. Spirit, Soul, and body. We are a living soul, but it is the Spirit of God gives us life. Romans 8:16 When God breathed life into man's body it became the spirit of man. When the spirit reacted with the body, the soul was produced. "The breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 33:4

How I understand in simple form and a short version - Spirit ( God's place of biding in us ), Soul ( our personality and usually the dominant one ), Flesh ( our senses and worldly lusts/habits. Can also be dominant because the flesh comes from dust of the world ) Flesh dominance is basically lost from God. To be more Spirit than Soul ( soul is the in-between Spirit and Flesh ) we need to meditate on God's Word, be cognizant of Bad habits and giving into the Flesh, draw closer everyday to the Father and abhor sin. Repent when you do wrong and don't give up trying. Pick up your cross everyday and submit only to the Fathers Laws and Statutes. We can do this !!! Because stronger is He that is in us than he that is in the world. I hope my understanding is correct . For it is my Spirit that desires only for the Father.
