Spongebob has seen his fair share of controversies over the years, one of many involving his stance on global warming. In a book/short, he expresses the dangers of what could happen to the world if no action is done to stop climate change. Some people weren't happy.

Spongebob regularly goes to goo lagoon which is very likely a brine pool. Brine pools tend to be life enders due to the high amounts of salt. Never mind that it was first introduced as a stinky mud puddle.

Thats a good point, but they were probably wanting to aim for something that kids could better understand the cause/effect relationship. Its probably a bit difficult to create an association that carbon in the water increases the acidity, unless maybe they had literal pools of acid forming and stuff dissolving. But its a bit easier to understand water gets hot and starts boiling because heat gets trapped. It also applies a bit better to our experience with global warming I personally think it would have also been good to address plastic pollution, since that’s an easily understandable issue that really affects the oceans, but that might’ve been a bit too much for one environmental special. Sorry I dont know why I wrote so much lol. I just thought it was neat.

Spongebob is a great comedy with good jokes and clever writing. In my mind, that's what made the show so successful and has continued to keep it alive. It's also why there are so many Spongebob memes based off classic episodes, further cementing Spongebob within pop-culture. Comedies should just be about comedy and political beliefs should be irrelevant. Anyone from any political background can sit down and enjoy a good Comedy show like Spongebob. In my own opinion, I also think kids should be allowed to draw their own conclusions in regards to controversial subjects as they mature, as young minds can be influenced by ideas very easily. A child may or may not end up choosing to believe an opposing viewpoint instead later on in their life. Individuals should be free to seek out absolute truths on their own without the influence of others. Absolutely truths always stand as provable no matter what.

I first heard of this short/episode 12 years ago because my friend always referenced it and at first I thought it was an episode on Nickelodeon (hence it's SpongeBob) but then he told me it was a KZbin exclusive instead so I just watched it here. I actually just rewatched it too before I watched this video actually just now on December 3rd, 2021!! I wonder why Nickelodeon couldn't just air the short/episode to their own network instead of here on KZbin (hence it's SpongeBob and SpongeBob usually gets full length episodes).
