KZbin music exists! That acrualy has the BEST discover feature of the big music apps. Also the fact youtube premium users make the artists more money by listening unlike with spotify where it doesnt matter which payment tier someone has

@@hadjitube you would have. For me I don’t have enough streams or listeners to use discovery mode. The requirement makes sense but does that mean their algorithm is doing nothing with all the other music? Is the spotify pitch useless because they just want external traffic to trigger the algo to turn on and push music? I’d assume they tweaked the algo to incentivise discovery mode for the actively streamed small artists

espresso actually autoplayed every time during the april-may timeline this year on spotify while on the same time on my apple music it never appeared before it got hyped (i listen to hardrock most of time and pop very less as compared to other genre )

As a part of the music industry, execs have special relationships with streaming services, so it would likely be hard to prove but undeniably true. Also btw, you're song FIJI is an absolute bop. Autoplay biased toward popular music. As someone who enjoys popular music and listens to a lot of it, people should just change there listening to not get stuff they dont like, in short. Spotify is great for me as a pop fan who doesnt have anyone Im uniquely biased against.

This is good content I have some thoughts similar regarding Sabrina I think she’s cool and sassy as a person but don’t like her music, I don’t think she is doing it personally though. I agree with many of your points too. I also have some others that move into conspiracy theory but maybe that’s because I read SEC filings on all these companies in my spare time. I would also kill to see your data from using discovery mode, not sure if there is a place to see proper example data like that of it being used. I’m not an artist (or entrepreneur/manager/speaker/looking for work) lol just a researcher and lawyer and autistic and saw it come out and it hits on a few other interesting areas of law not just Payola issue, in some ways I’m not clear how it actually works at individual level tho and need some data

@@capnjames lol I need to write a blog post as a proper version of this so it has all the information and appears a a bit more legit/less crazy, mostly want to make my graphs more visually appealing tbh. But there was a weird thing going on where everyone’s (big 3 labels) future planning in different ways and those potential on appearance paths incorporate s Spotify/ TikTok others in different ways t. Like the fillings for Sony and Warner and the companies associating with them and the patents those tech companies have recently got , imply a certain but distinct future plan for how those labels plan to continue to make money. Honestly, on the money end, they treat the artist largely like a literal asset not a person who is cool lol like a nice car. She has heaps of albums but has never hit really properly. But from objective analysis there is no reason why she should follow the exact Swift level path. I put this all on universal too I mean not her, like few have any control, swift, Kendrick, Adele and a few others maybe lol they are just randomly in my head they might get to stomp around for their way a bit. But everyone else it’s record label thinking what are we doing to make money with you and she had strong potential features. Which is why I think it’s not on her personally . So An attempt at the short versions is she is part of Universals plan, I think they want to make her swift 2.0. Personally I don’t dislike her but I do dislike her music. But she does have a lot of appeal to similar ppl and a few things in common with Swift. Plus she should have largely picked up all her fans touring with her, her music is also that trashy type of generic pop with catchy element that is written for algorithms. It sounds dumb but I think it is one of the things they are doing because they are literally pushing her so hard on everything right now and some of the data looks weird. I also get it seems stupid but when it works it works and it often works. Also Swift is the example that those single massive singers can basically determine profit, why work hard on everyone when we have this template. It’s also true and weird that it’s on the down low that a TikTok consortium entity own 20% of Universal, they also own 10% of Spotify. Universal themselves also own almost 5% of Spotify so they have this little mutually beneficial circle to profit off taking a best case target and pushing them hard at the best time (Swift tour etc) and the very opaque way earnings are calculated through Spotify, means it almost immediately pays off. The pipeline from TikTok to Spotify is the start of money trail tho. That’s why I’m suss on anything Spotify does with other artists more generally like discovery. If they are doing anything differently say for those they do and don’t profit from themselves or have an interest in. That’s a bad company to to court type issue. There are super weirdly a few fuckijg masdive streamed artists where they are based that no one has ever heard of but the bring in heaps of streaming dollars and they are from where Spotify is from and the music is nothing, like they seem dodgy I think they are collecting revenue in more than just the legit way
