Do you suffer from The Spotlight Effect? What are things that you always worry other people will notice that they usually don't notice as much/at all?

Thank you for this video, this topic is very interesting. My advice: Just say to yourself: relax, no one knows your "presentation" better than you, YOU are the master and YOU are the leader.

Wow! My husband and I were just talking about this the other day. I have noticed that the things that I don't want to talk about or show to people are the things that they highlight to me, weather it be about me physically, my home or my children. I used to highlight it my self thinking I would be on the front foot, now I have learnt to just let things be and if people want to judge me and point things out it has got to do with them and their own insecurities, everyone has them, it just depends how much of it affects you. Being yourself is most important, everyone stumbles on words, and everyone will get a grey hair at some stage in their life- some things you just cant escape. Love your content on your channel so real and refreshing, great work lovely. 😉

Cool topic... and it's a strange phenomenon that we encounter. I recently asked my manager for some tips on speaking in our ops meetings as I felt I sucked at it... he may have just been being nice... but said I always come across confident and with good info. which was the complete opposite of how I felt. I can definitely relate to the stain on the shirt and the skin thing also. I've often raised how bad my skin is with friends...only to them say "is it bad, let me see" or "you don't have bad skin, I do" lol which juat shows how they never noticed...and we're in fact worried about themselves.

It's so true! I always catch myself thinking that during the presentation people are judging and seeing all the little errors that I commit, but when I'm watching someone else present I actually want them to do well (as other people probably too)!! It's so hard to change the way I think though 😁

Love it. Yes, we and our flaws are not as important as them and their flaws to them!

Great video Jodie! I think this quote is a good reminder about this as well from AA Milne "You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter thank you think", but lot of us underestimate our abilities or being too hard on ourselves at times.

that's fascinating, im gonna do my research on the spotlight effect, im definitely victim of it lol
Your channel is so relatable! I tend to always make a bigger deal out of something than it is really is - you're so right people probably don't even notice 99% of the time. Random question - What kind of camera/editing software do you use?!

How bout when you are crossing the street and you feel the whole world is watching you from their cars or fron the windows of buildings or a food court? Is that the spotlight effect?
