Like I’m so sad nick doesn’t have as big of following like Simeon panda and all of them. While they are strong in their own right, nick truly knows completely new and different forms of training to see massive growth. Been watching him for 2 years now and I’ve learned so much from him alone. He needs way more recognition than what he has

I love these, been doing them for months now but I prefer to pause at least 2-3 inches above the chest because that is my sticking point. I have seen more carryover personally doing it that way. Ive done plenty of pause reps in the past so I have enough speed to get any weight pretty quickly from the bottom to middle rom

How would you recommend getting stronger at self lift offs? I have a hard time being able to bench heavy by myself. If I self lift off 205 will only move for about 4-6 reps. If I have someone assist with lift off it’s almost an easy 8-10

why not buy a monolift or use that
@silatguy
@silatguy 3 жыл бұрын
Just do more self lift offs. Train your upper back more so you can keep your scapula tight and your whole structure rigid. I assume you probably hollow out your chest and create some slack when you self lift off and that is why you are losing reps because of lack of tightness or position

Its weird cause the flst bench you.use ive used it before the fat thompson fat pad and its to when benching you cant get the full range at the bottom that you would get in benching seat with a normal width benching seat so you still use chest but not as much it was always very lacking in giving a full like chest pump lol I don't know maybe your taller than me or something Eric Spoto wasnt that tall but who knows maybe hes taller than me still not sure.

Even now Spoto is still the most impressive bencher ever, he benched 722@313 bodyweight, 409 pounds over his bodyweight, just let that sink in for a bit. That’s a 100 pound person benching 509...

It works assuming you are pausing and not just touch n go cutting the rom. I prefer to pause about a fist above my chest contrary to Nick's recommendation because that is my sticking point and I have seen direct carryover training it that way

Everybody is doing it wrong look up how eric spoto reps the weight thats a spoto press not this pauze reps
@NickWright
@NickWright Жыл бұрын
This is a more effective way for the average lifter. Eric is genetically unique and was benching 225 at 13. (I spoke with him numerous times and was planning on doing a video with him at one point). Pausing builds strength and control at the bottom as well as explosive strength at the start of the rep which is what 99% of average lifters need to work on.

I've been benching like this since I hurt my shoulder. Never knew it was called a spoto press. I always hurt my shoulder touching the barbell and chest with heavy weight. Spoto press will save your shoulders if you are prone to shoulder injuries on the bench.

How ironic you tear your pec right on the release of your Bench Program. That must have an effect on the sales somewhat. Lol. Sorry, but not sorry. That's what happens when you ego lift.
@NickWright
@NickWright 3 жыл бұрын
Powerlifting isn't ego lifting.... Ego lifting is trying to lift a weight you aren't ready for, to impress others. Testing a planned one rep max that you have already locked-out in the past, after careful programming, is simply a part of the sport of competitive powerlifting... It's incredible how ignorant your comment is. Sorry to disappoint, but we've had 52 orders just today because anyone with common sense can see my program has improved my strength dramatically by how recent weight has been moving and that a muscular tear under a 2.2X bodyweight bench is just some unfortunate, freak-luck that happens in any sport... You need common sense to be able to observe all of this, though..
@jaydog9329
@jaydog9329 3 жыл бұрын
@@NickWright My point is the risk/reward is never worth it, especially just for a youtube video. Why not prolong your lifting career until you die just by making the decision of not going under 3 reps. This might sound like bro-science, but it never would happened if you had just dropped the ego at the door.
@NickWright
@NickWright 3 жыл бұрын
@@jaydog9329 I've been lifting injury-free for 15 years. Lifting took me out of the 9-5 job world 8 years ago and has brought me opportunities I otherwise, would have only dreamt of. Competing in powerlifting is also something I simply enjoy doing.. So I would say the reward has been WELL worth the risk. Only now, at almost 30 and on the sunset end of my KZbin career have I finally ran into one injury that fortunately was not career-ending because I was prepared via safety bars and knowing what to listen & look for. Also, here you go with more ignorance. Mark Bell tore his pec on the 5th rep of a set. I can link multiple videos of people tearing pecs doing sets of 3. A tear happens when a muscle has simply maximized its elasticity and strength. This can happen from simply lifting too heavy, moving incorrectly, being dehydrated etc. This can happen during a single or a set of 7... Heavy reps are usually MORE dangerous because fatigue creeps in and breaks down form easier after the 1st rep. So there goes your logic, there. It is bad enough that you are the type of human being to laugh at someone else's injury. At LEAST don't be the type to spread false and potentially DANGEROUS information around like "only singles are dangerous" when it's been proven that volume leads to injuries more frequently than heavy singles. And lol at "leave your ego at the door".... Again, since you didn't read my first response - a PLANNED single is NOT an ego lift. It is powerlifting. That's like telling a football player to leave his ego at the door and not tackle on the field....

@@NickWright Lmfao the fact that you actually took the time to right huge wall of text to a random on youtube shows that I have succeeded in rustling your jimmies.
