Thanks alot for the review. I give 80% chance of playins and 10% chance of straight playoffs. It can depend on so many things. But to me the crux of the matter for Spurs is their fine team play. Because Victor is the leader and is such an unusual player it takes alot of time to constuct team automatisms, and in basketball if you need to think 5 hundredths of a second too much in standard plays it starts eating at your game and everything unravels. The talent is there, so if they can get straight into some level of confidence like in their good moments last year, and then build from that, then not lose focus and get win streaks, the Spurs can be a surprise. But that requires luck, its very unstable. So it's all about the season's scenario, a grain of sand can unsettle the machine. And Pop and Victor have showed they rather focus on the long run so they won't mind too much losing matches. I for instance if Victor gets injured he will be put to rest, it wont be like Embiid playing with only one knee. So we'll most probably have to be patient and enjoy observing the construction work another year.

I don't get why people think Tre and CP3 aren't very similar players at this point in their careers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tre start every game when CP3 is injured or resting. He was excellent this year, and I say this as someone who hated Tre before last season, but he improved and was great with Wemby

I like Tre very much, but he can't create his own shot. When nothing else work, no one is open, Tre is just lost. A starting PG need at least to be able to create his own shot. CP3 lost lot of his speed but he can still do that well.

I want to see a couple of games, but I think this team is capable of being a 40+ win team . I mean next season will be weird because as good as the Wemby draft was this next one might be better. The whole lottery from pick 1 to pick 14 probably would have been Top 5 picks in the '24 draft and at least 5 prospects that would have gone number 1 in the last draft. I mean I loved Sarr and Risarche from the start last year but I don't think either is even a Top 10 pick next year. So I say that to say there could be some moves made during the season for teams to maybe not even tank for number 1, but just to get a little lower when them ping pong balls start flying. That said for everything the Spurs did, I also think seeing what happened with Atlanta might make teams like the Spurs change up at the break depending on how the season goes. The Spurs are set up well for the '25 draft. It should be interesting. I think the roster is good enough to win 35-40 games but I also didn't think the Spurs would start the first 15-20 games doing the Sochan experiment . Anything can happen.
@gabrielcarrasco90782 ай бұрын
I'd easily take these guys over Risascher. Flagg, Harper, Traore, Edgecombe, Bailey, Zikarsky, and McNeely. That's just off the top of my head.
@Ebriel00000002 ай бұрын
Last season, Spurs lost 22 games by 7 or less. This year, Wemby will have more minutes, a great PG, a better defensive help and a better spacing : no reason why Spurs won't be much better in offense and in defense at the same time, which will translate by a massive team record improvment. Sure West is loaded but it wouldn't be a surprise if SA is a .500 team. We saw how bad they were in the beginning of the last season... and how they played after the AS break. Adding CP3, Barnes and Castle won't be useless.

Wemby doesn’t strike me as someone who is ok with losing. If the spurs don’t show marked improvements it means several players aren’t working out. This would mean more adjustments going into his third season. They won’t win enough during the fourth season for him to stick around. I think the strategy of developing for the future is a fragile at best. It all hinges on Wemby sticking around…no guarantee.

Dude did you see the video Wemby made to thank fans at the end of the year? Does that look like a guy who is abandoning this team after 4 years? (something that has never happened in entire history of the NBA no one has been offered a max extension after their rookie year and declined. No one in history). Wemby is staying for a minimum of 8 years and that's only if the Spurs somehow don't make the playoffs after 8 years with Wemby
