The Stalwart Build is BACK and SHREDS Helldive Difficulty

This build involves using the Stalwart support weapon, paired with the Scorcher Primary Weapon. The scorcher deals with chargers and medium enemies. Stalwart deals with everything else. And we use anti titan stratagems to deal with bile titans. This build feels great and I was able to complete the new mission from the major order on solo helldive difficulty. #helldivers2

The Stalwart is the support weapon for when you want to use your primary as a support weapon

You compensate either primary for support. Stalwart is just focus on light targets, so you need something like scorcher or eruptor to compensate.

I used this build, but switched in the shield pack and I absolutely bodied 15 Stalkers in 3 minutes while comfortably handling Chargers and Behemoths throughout the match. Stalwart is an S-tier chaff clearing weapon while Scorcher has fantastic durable damage and the explosion helps deal with heavy armor. This is one of my favorite bug builds now!

True. This is why using this build I make sure my Secondary is useful for dealing with chafe because the Eruptor can close bug holes. I'm actually enjoying the explosive crossbow with stealth armor because it seems like enemies detect where the explosion occurs but not you firing it. Combined with Sawed off shotgun secondary, flamethrower, stunade, strafing run, and something for bile titans and it's pretty fun.

If you're going to run the supply pack to enable a chaff-clearing weapon, I've had more success using the breaker spray & pray in my primary slot and the railgun as my support weapon. The S&P seems worse than the incendiary breaker but it comes with 2 more extra magazines so your sustainability is much better. Railgun works good at stripping charger legs, taking out annoying mediums, and can finish off an injured bile titan. My 2 other strategems besides railgun and supply pack are orbital precision strike and eagle rocket pods, or alternatively orbital gatling and eagle 500kg. Great balance and I'm able to kill pretty much everything in a good amount of time, and I literally never run out of ammo, grenades, and stims.

@@thiccfila I enjoy it but it feels like it just needs another 10% to 15% more durable damage. The amount of time you have to spend aiming with unsafe mode is pretty rough for the outcomes you receive.

If you have the supply pack tho you might as well run the grenade launcher. Kills mediums fast and in groups. Kills chargers pretty well, can finish off bile titans once the armor is broken. Closes bug holes

Since the shield pack nerf that's been the case. Supply pack is 10x more useful now, and the shield is a crutch but not even a very good one--it's a waste of a stratagem slot and has been for a while.

It's nice to have more options. I usually roll with the punisher, regular grenades, grenade pistol, something anti-charger/Titan, and stratagems that can handle a mix of crowds and heavies. It works out pretty well. But I have a friend who absolutely rocks machine guns.

I absolutely love the eruptor senator and flamethrower with stuns on bug maps. You cannot get a better combination of horde clearing, heavy killing, and bug hole squashing. I pair it with the rocket sentry, 500 kilo, and air strikes for when I cant handle things by myself, and I gotta say that this loadout absolutely shreds anything you throw at it

Idk about that take on melee damage. I think the best thing about melee is the small stagger. Plus, it's super immersion breaking for a human to butt stock tap a giant insect that has an exoskeleton and manage to kill it in 3 or 4 hits.

@@thiccfila yeah idk dude. i feel like the current amount where it takes two hits to kill a scav is fine. I think it's best that melee in its current form stays more of an emergency utility. Plus, they had melee in hd 1 when they gave melee weapons like a bayonet. I think that would the best time for when melee gets a buff. Kind of wish there was a melee for the throwing knives though.

I like the MG-43 Machine Gun more than Stalwart , It feels a bit weak against brood commander and hive guard

I find that turning the fire rate to maximum and targeting the Brood Commander's top of the head or two front limbs works best with the Stalwart, and with Hive Guards, like with any light armor pen weapon, aiming towards their bottom, or the gaps in their armor between the face plate and arms when they turtle (or alternatively causing them to turtle and getting the flank on them) works best.

I wanna say that the Stalwart is fantastic IF IF IF you run it like an LMG. You gotta use it for your movement and suppression element, and only for unarmored or lightly armored opponents that are massed. For heavier enemies you have to hit the flanks or let your heavy elements take them out. I do have to say I love running it at 1150rpm in bursts to keep bots in a semi-stunned mode to cover team movement (again, a job for an LMG). I rarely run the GPMG as there is not much of a penalty for going to the HMG directly from the LMG now that the reload times are shorter on the former. I've always been an LMG guy in video games so this new patch had made my style of gameplay work really well even on higher difficulties. I also tend to run two airstrikes and a supply pack, and then I try to also act as quartermaster for my team during heavy fights since I maintain mobility.

Each machine gun has a different use. The Stalwart has almost no armor pen to speak of but you get a ton of ammo. It runs like a very high capacity assault rifle that you use to mow down chaff enemies. The regular Machine Gun has some medium armor penetration. If you take the Hive Guard as an example, you can shoot their armored face plates and get a gray hitmarker which does mean you are dealing damage. It has some good ammo economy, but it does have less than the Stalwart. The HMG is more meant for higher-tiered enemies. Since the recent update, you can shoot Charger legs and Gunship thrusters and take them down. However, it has less ammo and a lower fire rate than the normal MG. You _can_ take out chaff with it, but its limited ammo doesn't exactly make this ideal.

with railgun i like running eagle strafing run and orbital gatling barrage, they basically do similar damage to railgun and are low cooldown, dealing damage to everything. theyre alright for mobbing, alright for bossing, and everything combines together really well.

Yes and yes. Shake it up. Bring at least 1 AT something so you can still contribute to heavies without guilt. His loadout here is pretty solid to cover all the bases.

It does, yes. Heavier weapons swing about to intended Point of Aim faster, and going into ADS is near instant, without the perk, there's a slight delay before going into ADS. It does make weapons with tight handling more finicky, though, so watch out for that. That would be the reason behind people's complaints of, "the perk makes handling worse". They're using it with weapons you arguably don't need it for, and they're having trouble adjusting to the finer controls for those guns. Oh, and the two guns that came out with the warbond already have really great handling, and the Liberator Carbine actually works best with the perks that reduce recoil, so using those weapons with that armor isn't necessarily that efficient.

Only issue i have with the stalwart is its a strategem call in weapon, unlike the first game where it is a primary weapon. This game lacks any meaningful SAWs as primary.

I think it was easier for them to balance weapons when every player shared the same screen and with them switching to 3rd person they didn’t really know how to balance weapons in a normal game so that’s probably why they made them stratagems and that’s probably the main reason why the overall balance of the game has been all over the place

If you're using it, you're forced to bring stratagems to deal with heavies because there really isn't any great primaries to deal with heavies since the eruptor lost the shrapnel. He's struggling to kill chargers with the scorcher in this video and the scorcher is considered to be one of the better primaries for dealing with chargers.

This is impressive considering the low visibility planet. The atmosphere is the ultimate standard for any difficulty in my humble opinion. Doing this same mission on Angel's Venture with a clear line of sight up to the horizon would still be ok. But it would not be as impressive as this for sure.

I strongly strongly suspect that Experimental Stims improves weapon handling. I noticed this with the HMG and MG43, both rather sluggish weapons.

It does say it increases movement speed, that could mean that it increases more than just your running speed. Question though, are you also running the Peak Physique perk when you are running the Experimental Stims? That perk does improve the handling of heavier weapons by itself.

@@ChrisWilliams-lf8ex At the time I was not. I personally am having a difficult time seeing the difference with Peak Physique, though I have noticed the melee damage increase. I have been running HMG for quite a bit recently and I would like to think I would notice an improvement in the super-tanker handling, particularly trying to get charger rears without stun grenades (takes so long to drag it on target).

Supply pack feel a bit wasted with Stalwart as it's not really needed to get the ammo to last. Not needing the Supply pack is to me the main advantage of the Stalwart over the other MGs. With Supply pack the others are better as they clear the medium bugs better.
