All I shoot are hinges and just bought this one with a click. I shoot mine just the way you explained by engaging the safety, rotating to the click still with the safety engaged, then slowly relax my thumb and let the barrel creep and the arrow is gone. I shoot all my hinges at different "speeds," some with clicks and some without just to keep myself always thinking of my process after the aim. I feel the Onnex hinge set "hot" would be a great way to have one set to hunt with. If you know how to shoot a hinge, and with this click, you know exactly where you are at when at full draw, and worst case scenario if the shot needs to go asap there is no needed additional rotation. Not truly "ideal" in the training world of how to fire a hinge but if you know what you are doing it works. I tested it and I had the exact same point of impact shooting like this as I do with my UV H2's, TB Executive, TB HBC's, Scott Longhorn Micro etc.

I just got the heavy metal delivered today I decided to turn the safety off, I'm new to a hinge lease and I did not want to have a crutch if you will so I set my thumb release up as just the thumb, other than that I'm liking it so far had it out in my yard practicing for a little bit at 10 yards getting the field getting things set, definitely a winner no doubt going to make me a better shooter

It would be cool if you did a run down on your bow setups for this year. Great video super helpful

I just bought that release a few days ago and I’m still learning to shoot with it. If you bend your wrist to much you can hear the click which will let you know that it will fire when you take your thumb off the safety. If I hear the click then I just go through the motion again that way I can fire it correctly. That click is pretty audible so just listen for it. This is my first hinge and I decided to buy it mainly because of that safety. I have to adjust my peep height and either D-loop or draw length or possibly both. I want the thumb button for hunting that way everything can stay the same on my bow. I do really like the release I just have to practice a lot to get used to it.

Take the safety screw all the way out and the safety will always work.

So its like a Truball Sweet Spot 2. Stan Click: The idea behind the Thumb Click is to use single digit manipulation. So no rotating release, just pressure on thumb. Click goes off, bringing your mind back to the process. Continue pressing with your Thumb and surprise break. Shot goes off. Thats how Joel Tunner explains it.

Oh I know how he explains it. But if you’re present enough to squeeze it until it clicks and your on target, why not have it hurt fire instead of click?

Interesting insights. I just purchased a used heavy metal Onnex hinge to try out (my first hinge). I love my Perfex HM thumb button but have wanted to try a hinge for a while, and figured when this one came out it would feel the most similar. I don't know about the demo, but in the manual it says that you can adjust the safety and even turn it off completely if you want to, or adjust it the other way to make it "safer"? Don't know the best way to describe that.

I have a Sweet Spot and had the same travel point issue with it and both it and my resistance release have the same issue, in that they are good when I am good, if I become less than perfect then the groups go south fast and working out why is difficult The rotate and relax method is reminiscent of the Relax trigger Cascade from the distant past (which I believe Sergio Pagne shot with distinction)

Good review. I'm currently making the switch to a handheld release so I can work on shooting form. I am wrestling with my anchor point. Just out of curiosity, do you know the distance of your peep sight above your nocking point?

Unrelated but I'd really like to know your opinion. I accidentally dry fired my bow. Mathews Atlas. 75 lbs 33 inch draw. Shop says it's ok but I'm skeptical. Should I sell it and get a new one or is it really ok?

If they said it’s fine it’s probably fine. Surprised the strings didn’t get messed up but that’s usually the only thing I see break on Mathews after a dry fire

I personally don't believe design faults are features, but to each their own... I don't know anyone that's had one that's actually liked it. Just shows that even a company like Stan doesn't hit em all out of the park!
