I worked at the Stanley as my first job. I was a housekeeper when I was 15 years old. I guess it was 1989 or so and I worked for a summer. I’ve been in every room in there! I’m actually from Estes Park, so I’ve been there many times. The tunnel is actually where our break room was back in the day. Cool video, made for a lot of nostalgia.

I lived in Estes Park 2001-2002, and worked at the Stanley. The hotel has changed drastically in 20 years! I actually did a massage for 2 sisters in room 217, very heavy energy in that room. I have some stories from that hotel, as my ex gf did tours there. F O Stanley's wife still enjoys playing the piano. That figure that you had mentioned, is said to be F O Stanley's wife standing at the top of the stairs greeting and watching guests. Word has it that Neil Young and Peter Gabriel stayed at the Stanley while playing Denver.

I happened to be there when they were filming the mini-series. While on vacation I was headed for the entrance of the Rocky Mountains National Park, and decided to stop to sightsee at the Stanley (being a fan of the novel). A guy stopped me at the bottom of the hill & made me shut off the car engine because they were shooting a scene outside in front of the hotel. It was the scene where Halloran talks with Danny at the swing set. After they finished the scene I was allowed to drive up, park, and walk around the whole property. I was able to take photos of various set pieces, including the mock section of roof that Jack is shown repairing.

The house that Indiana and his dad lived in when they were young and seen at the beginning of the film is now a bed and breakfast. There is also a really cool train you can take there. The town is called Antonito and it's on the Colorado New Mexico border. So something to think about for one day. @TheDailyWoo Awesome day for you 🙏👍💖 Now welcome to Colorado. I'm so happy you left Denver. Estes park and Rky Mtn National Park is gorgeous. . God Bless !! You're the best! Corado as a whole is fabulous. When going through the mtns there were many really cool things you drove by and never mentioned. You stopped at Silver Plume but not Georgetown which had tons more mining history as well as movie history. While in Glenwood, just down the road a ways was Aspen absolutely gorgeous you left it out. Denver is a shadow of it's former self but you missed some really cool new areas they are developing. Old candy factory made into lofts with original mural on the side of building. The iron bridges were put in in the late 1980s and they relocated/reused the original old bridges but they aren't in original locations. The huge original Ice House advertisement on building down by Union Station. The old old Saddle Company ad on side of building going into downtown in 15th Street. I could go on for hours of what you missed. While at Red Rocks you didn't mention all of the rattle snakes up there as well as Dinosaur Ridge with real dinasuar tracks all over the side of the mountain. You short changed Colorado compared to other states attractions you have shown. I'm passionate about my state!! 6flags was originally Elitches but was relocated in the 1990s from 38th and Tennyson it's original location in the 1880s. The original Merry Go round house was left as part of a housing development. Old town North Denver. Colorado natives are trying to change the blueness of the state back to red. People downtown and surrounding areas are extremely RUDE! It didn't used to be this way. I'm so sorry. I love your channel Adam.

Although the mini series (1997) is historically cool documenting The Stanley, I believe the original Kubrick’s, The Shining (1980) is an all time cinematic masterpiece and if anyone attempts a shot by shot remake, Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, in Oregon is the majestic location. Kubrick was the greatest filmmaker with the scariest visual literacy for the initial screenplay. Overall, Cool vlog Adam with great overlooking views.

Yes, Kubrick’s The Shining is a masterpiece and it’s one of my favorite films. But it is not fair to compare the 1997 version to it. They are completely different. One is a loose adaptation from the creative mind of Stanley Kubrick, and one is a faithful adaptation written by Stephen King himself. They stand on their own.

It’s one of my favourite Stephen King movies and books. I love the recreation of the carpet in the lodge 😲

When built in 1909 (Looks great for 113) The guests came to the hotel for the fresh mountain air, however only seasonal, a bit TOO fresh in winter. The account tells of them arriving at the hotel in Stanley Steamer Automobiles and were dumbstruck at the grandeur of the place. A chance to visit you won't forget Adam.
