The Lucas hate was pretty insane. I mean, I get it. GL "ruined" their childhood. However, the lack of respect was pretty crazy. The man created a global phenomenon that lasted generations. If any of them had achieved half as much, I could maybe understand their intense criticism of the Lucas. Lucas' main problem is that he is not a people person. And film is very much a collaborative effort. As he grew older, richer and more power, he created an environment more suited to his temperment. Unfortunately, it also was likely not good for the collaborative nature of the filmmaking process.

I think me growing up with the prequels a lot of the things they complain about in this episode I don't really care personally. Like Boba Fett is a cool character but I could care less that he's a clone like that doesn't ruin the character for me at all. Or the midichlorians thing like I'm perfectly fine with that explanation because what makes the force special is everyone can't do use it or control it only a special people who inherently can. If everyone could just use the force like they want it waters it down and makes it not as special.
@ogkage6 ай бұрын
The concept of midichlorians dilutes the whole universe. It makes what should be a mystic, ethereal concept calculable.A force users powers ought to be dictated by how far they plunge themselves into the force and what they learn along their journey, shouldn’t it?
@vizionaryentertainment84646 ай бұрын
@@ogkage I think a force users powers is still dictated by how far they train even with the midichlorian explanation. For example when Obi Wan ran a test of the blood sample he said the midi chlorian count was even higher than that of master Yoda's. With that being said Yoda was still arguably one of if not the most powerful force user in the history of the galaxy. I think even with the midi chlorian explanantion the force is still mystical and ethereal
@ogkage6 ай бұрын
@@vizionaryentertainment8464 appreciate you’re answer, but it’s kinda contradictory. Anakin had more midichlorians than yoda, thus anakin became stronger than yoda. So the midichlorians was the important factor, which inherently makes it less mystical, you know what I mean?
@vizionaryentertainment84646 ай бұрын
@@ogkage Anakin having a higher midichlorian count than any lifeform ever still got all his limbs cut off and would've been killed on that final duel on Mustafar if Obi Wan didn't decide to spare his life. Anakin was technically "inherently" stronger but still got wrecked by Obi-Wan a jedi with a lower count but trained hard in the ways of the force to the point where the difference in blood cell counts didnt matter lol. At the end of the day the midichlorian counts means nothing to me thats why I think it doesn't bother me or ruins the force for me like it does for a lot of other fans.
@seventhamendmentguy66816 ай бұрын
My hot take is the midichlorians fundamentally change nothing. Luke has that line in ROTJ about the force being strong in his family, so we already know there is something more to it then “delving deep into the force.” I understand people not liking a concrete explanation but based on how the force has been explained in previous movies/media, it really doesn’t change anything imo

It may be due to my being a kid when I first saw the original trilogy as well as the prequels but I never had a problem with the force having scientific explanations and inner workings. To me that was just expanding on how things actually function in the universe(Bear in mind I was a movie watcher only I read nothing of the expanded universe so that's all I had to go off of). I'm also the type that prefers a explanation over an unsolved mystery so that may play into it. I see many people who believe science and religion can work alongside each other in life yet for some reason a lot of those same people hate it in Star Wars.

This is how I've been able to move forward with my Star Wars appreciation as someone who largely hates the Disney era: Treat the EU like it is a parallel canon. I'm aware Star Wars doesn't literally have multiple timelines like say Marvel or DC, but we all know the only reason why comics created multiple timelines is so that they could tell new stories with popular characters and not have the lore messed up. For instance, in DC, Batman has canonically been married to Talia al Ghul, Catwoman, Wonder Woman and several others. All of those are treated as being true, but we kind of just accept the one we like and picture Batman as being with "insert whoever you accept as his being his true wife." Do the same thing with Star Wars. If Disney is going to come out and tell some awful, unfinished new telling of Han Solo's backstory, just choose to accept the Han Solo trilogy as how you interpret the character. It's all fiction anyway with hundreds and hundreds of stories. There's nothing saying you can't just choose the version of the character you want. We give Disney entirely too much power over what we accept as "truth." They're a greedy mega-corporation that has treated this franchise really poorly and ultimately it's a fantasy world with two completely different storylines. Bounce around if you like this Disney story vs that EU story. It doesn't have to be so serious. Or like you're drawing a line in the sand. Don't let Disney sour the entire thing for you.

The PC games from Lucasarts were outstanding, Tie Fighter is still being modded to this day. The Dark Forces games were also fantastic FPS titles. In the Arcade I very much enjoyed the OG Star Wars game, it still holds up 40 years later. If I see one in good condition i'll for sure stick some coins in; timeless in the same way as something like Outrun. The Pod Racer arcade is also really good. KOTOR is good, but I think fan patched KOTOR 2 is the better game; very much typical Obsidian (of the time) - there's always a good core of a game but commercial pressures get in the way of them finishing it. If you have access to VR and a PC then Squadrons is excellent, it's up there with Alyx and Beatsaber as the best gaming experience in VR you can have. I liked Jedi Fallen Order quite a bit, Survivor not so much as it lacked focus.

I think you guys had a good convo… But there was a lot of things with Star Wars games that none of you touched on, mostly because all of you haven’t had the full scope of Star Wars games that were released. It’s difficult to have a deep convo about games based on Star Wars when you haven’t dived into many of the titles that were significant for specific eras of gaming. Something I think you guys really didn’t get deep into was how the diverse lineup of genres for Star Wars games from 2000/2001 to around 2009 really influenced a lot of the fandom, and how we interacted/viewed Star Wars in that prequel era… There’s also a number of big Star Wars games none of you guys really discussed, I'm guessing because you didn’t play them or get to look into them back then, which is a big part of that era mentioned and the games that came later... It’s stuff that I feel isn’t really explored elsewhere in discussions about Star Wars like this… This is why when I pitched the idea to y’all for this (Star Wars games specifically) I mentioned that my experience and knowledge with nearly all Star Wars games I’ve had to cover would’ve been a major asset to this whole convo. I think you guys could really get into a deeper dive into games for Star Wars that could’ve made the talk of the EU and Disney Star Wars stuff even better… I hope you all consider tackling the subject again in a separate show that I can hopefully be part of, because there’s stuff I think you either don’t know or haven’t looked into that could make the whole discussion even better, as well as widen your outlook on everything about Star Wars games the franchise too. Other than that, it was an interesting discussion to listen to. Kudos. 💯👍

Prequel movies are not bad but deffo not the best . Also they do have epic moments and you know what Jar Jar not that bad! The writing especially in attack of the clones sucks between anakin and padme

Ep 1 was good and I’m not ashamed to say it

Damn - I couldn’t disagree more with you guys on your Star Wars takes. I get it though. Mourning takes many forms. ;)

The prequels overall are very good, especially compared to the complete trash that is the Disney trilogy. It's pretty insane that we are living in a second Star Wars golden era, thanks to Jon Favreau and Disney plus. The mandalorian, book of boba fett, andor, ahsoka, all fantastic. The Clone Wars and Rebels series are also outstanding.

Han solo is my least favorite star wars character. That being said solo was the BEST starwars movie and yep conservative here!

Not touching SW again until they calm down with all that forced (no pun intended) DEI stuff.
