Omg love this video I’ve been wanting more rational and reasonable criticism of Star Wars not and I quote from some KZbinr “I bet you won’t see any maga hats around Kathleen Kennedy”…. Like I’m here for the real beef not this fake political pork

Confronting fear is the destiny of a Jedi. There, I said it.

On the Starcruiser, I'd like to add two perspectives as someone who did go through the experience. First, I agree that the marketing message was off, but I see the bigger marketing problem as a penetration issue. Disney failed at getting the message out. When I shared my trip with people, the reaction wasn't that it was not for them. It was, "What is that? I've never heard of it." Even my Uber driver who dropped us off had never heard of it, and she regularly dropped people off at the parks. She took a picture with us at the hotel entrance to show people. Regardless of messaging, not enough people knew, including friends of mine who are hard-core fans with the income to go. Second, I empathize that Jenny N. didn't have a great experience and that your experience with the First Order officer was unsettling, but my experience was more than I could have imagined! My only regret was that it closed before I could go a second time. I would have gladly paid again for that experience. There's nothing like it! I embraced the game and role playing, and the cast members were excellent. Even when we were off story. We did make some conscious costume choices that were off timeline because my wife and I wanted to live our Star Wars story. So one dinner on the Starcruiser, my wife dressed as Vice-admiral Holdo. The crew members didn't say, "Hey, aren't you dead?" Or some other corrective line, the ships Captain respectfully called her Admiral. Same thing for me when on departure day I was dressed as Han Solo (who also would have been dead) and my wife was in the white Leia dress with hair buns. They just went along with it to share in our story of reliving our honeymoon on the Halcyon. That type of immersion where we interacted on an individual level was incredible and very moving to be honest. I spent time alone on a mission with Chewbacca in the Engineering room! And the first time I stepped into the world of Batuu from the Starcruiser shuttle, I got choked up from the experience. If you allow yourself to stay in the moment and enjoy the experience as a participant, it is transforming! Anyway, I just wanted to bring some balance to the negative view from Jenny N. I, for one, am sad the Starcruiser is gone. I don't see the experience as a failure. It was an amazing experience I'll never forget!

The Jedi Order see fear as a bridge to other negative emotions, especially the fear of loss. However, ironically, they fear the feeling of feeling fear. All the rules and dogmas of the Jedi about attachment come from fear. They are ruled by their own feas. While the Sith are slaves to their own personal greed and emotions.

The fear of fear is the path to the dark side? 🤔

@@GeekyStoics In some cases, I believe so. Usually the Dark Siders that go off and causing a mess are former Jedi. Not all, of course. They lack emotional inteligence and how to deal with their fears, because the Jedi are instructed to simply supress them. It is just a take on it.

Great comments leading into The Acolyte. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the first two episodes. And yes, the Starcruiser marketing was so off track that it’s amazing that it came from Disney. The four hour commentary was on point.

I think the difference with the ways the Jedi experience fear is similar to the ways Zen masters have described fear (and other negative emotions): they've trained themselves to perceive and experience those emotions fully, while also observing them dispassionately. When they observe those feelings and emotions rising up, they can anticipate them, then fully observe them from a higher awareness, free from passions or judgments, and then allow those feelings to pass through them. That's how I see it anyway. 🤷🏻‍♂️ With The Acolyte's JJ, maybe he keeps his fear more centered in his awareness? 🤔

I buy it, kind of the idea that the emotions we experience don’t define us, and the more heightened our awareness is, the more we can not be ruled by them -Riley

No. I don’t see that Quigon meditated because he was feeling so much fear of Mal. What BS. They were contrasting his spirituality and calm with Mal’s tempestuousness. Mal was impatient and prowling like a wild tiger and Quigon saw that as long as that field was up, there was nothing he could do, so instead of getting anxious, he decided to connect to the force and wait patiently during the wait. He was not afraid.he was spiritual. Obi Wan did show fear though. He showed panic for not being there and being held back. But not Quigon.

fair enough! Matter of opinion. Feeling fear and being spiritual are not mutually exclusive. What i the point of meditation if not to channel negativity OUT of the mind and body?

Dance around it all you want, but in the end it's just intellectually dishonest to entirely avoid what the creators and producers themselves explicitly state is their purpose.
