I can see why Form V is so popular, it performs well both in duels and on the battlefield and it's only weaknesses are hard to exploit effectively
@HHLucifer6662 жыл бұрын
Personally I don't see why anyone would go to form 5 in a duel. For blaster bolts sure but not for lightsabers. That's exactly what makashi was purpose built for so I just don't see why anyone would waste the energy over exerting themselves, hammering away at their opponents. A skilled makashi user can end a fight with a single stroke or thrust. Now I don't deny the power of djem-so but often it gets used simply for its physical power, that I've seen. If someone is going to take to form 5, I'd say take to form 5 with the mentality of a makashi duelist: seek to end the fight in one strike if possible, always make sure your footwork is on point, and be creative with it. Come up with your own moves. It's a martial ART after all
@AntonNight2 жыл бұрын
Well, a warrior with deep wells of stamina, resilience and strength would find it quite useful for applying their greatest advantages in a furl. And as Anakin demonstrated, Makashi can be overwhelmed by this form rather easily.

@@AntonNight as I stated i don't deny djem-so's power in certain cases. But understand dooku vs anakin in episode 3 is probably the best case study we can draw from as to why djem-so was manufactured. On the flipside of that, it's also the worst for understanding why makashi works AT ALL due to the mitigating circumstances at play during that fight (dookus old age and anakins physique being just 2 of them). But hey, maybe djem-so is actially da G.O.A.T form and maybe I'm just too much of a diehard makashi fan boy to see it. Who knows. Love the discussion tho
@InfernoCleric3842 жыл бұрын
@@HHLucifer666 I honestly don't think Makashi can do much against Djem So either way. Makashi is very careful and precise and one critical hit from a Form V user will demolish the precision and blade placing of most Form II users. A few powerful swings and your lightsaber is down. The only case I see for a Form II user being able to resist the power of a Form V user is if the former is physically powerful, and why even use Form II at that point instead of taking advantage of the strength one has. You mentioned that Form V wastes too much energy hammering at the enemy, but if they can bat your lightsaber away, then bye-bye to all your defense! A skilled Form V user can definitely end a lightsaber battle fast.

It's telling that two of the greatest Sith Lords, Exar Kun and Darth Revan were Niman users. It gets overlooked a lot because of its jack of all trades nature, but if mastered, it's the most easily adaptable style, with Makashi being its only hard counter. I enjoyed the descriptors of the New Jedi Order styles as being hybrids, the Fast Style being an exciting blend of Soresu and Ataru, Explosive in quick bursts on a single opponent and the best blaster deflection in those games
@Kyzen_Wrell2 жыл бұрын
I definitely would take the force integration and overall mindset of Niman and combine it with the played work of Form V (both variants). Allowing for a more creative and hard hitting flexible form that isn’t afraid to adjust its bulldozing tactics to something more of a trickster.
@powerofanime12 жыл бұрын
If I had to choose a single form to put at the top, it would be Shien. But Makashi is a really damn close second, and if I could hybridize, it would absolutely be Makashi first, Shien second. Because Lightsabers don't need heavy strikes to cut. As for the blades I would have a yellow lightsaber with a Makashi hilt, plus a cortosis cross guard. I would also have a green shoto in my off hand, held in the reverse grip, but I consider that to be more of a hold-out weapon, or the one I would reach to for a saber-throw rather than part of the style. If I was in dire straits and had to use them in Jar-Kai, I wouldn't want to use any of the 7 styles. Instead I would want to use the real-world Espada y Daga style of Italian Fencing!

The problem with form V seems similar to form 2, namely you have to have the right build for it or it'll never work for you. Form 2 practitioners are best built to be wiry and sleek moving with elegance and grace. Form V users seem to be by necessity to be built like tanks, these strong muscle bound juggernauts slowly inexorably beating down an opponent until they run out of the strength to even meet the blows. This does seem to limit the amount of natural form V users, as other forms don't seem to have the innate need for a specific physical state.
@zachelkins12292 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, there are some physical advantages of course but depending on how much and how you lean on the force a lot of your innate physical prowess could be made up for. Not to discount the importance of training both physical and mental, after all without the right mind set no form will truly work well for you, and it is important to remember all forms can be adapted to the user to make up for physical differences. To elaborate for form 2 a lot of self control is more important than build by far so long as you have good manual dexterity and can gauge the kinds of blows that are inbound your build isn't nearly as important. For form 5 yes physical might is nice, but endurance is even more important to tear down an opponents defenses means you need to out last them more than over power them. Unless your species is particularly slight of frame nearly all skeletal structures would work well for either.
@FalconWindblader2 жыл бұрын
That's the case when discounting the use of the Force. With Form 2, bigger, slower creatures could use the Force to augment their perception & reaction times, allowing them to better compensate for having a bigger frame & being physically clumsier. For Form 5, the Force would be used to augment one's strength & speed, allowing one to strike harder & faster than they would physically be able to. The TRUE problem with Form 5, like with Form 4, is that it's an incredibly taxing form to use. Users of form 4 & 5 tire out much quicker than those using form 1-3.

The reverse grip thing has always been pretty gimmicky. Just try to swing a practice sword that way IRL. It doesn't add power to the swing, it makes it weaker, less accurate and shortens its reach. As for Djem So as a whole, it's definitely the most Kendo-like of the forms, so it's no coincidence that it's the one assigned to both Darth Vader and Luke in the original trilogy. It's the "style" lightsaber combat was originally conceived as, to mirror old samurai movies. The other styles branched out from that. Still in a meta sense, it's kinda perfect that Djem So was assigned to Anakin in his Clone Wars days, because it's so effective at conveying both his growing ruthlessness and his overwhelming power compared to his peers. He is supposed to be the discontented prodigy that becomes an evil juggernaut, after all.

Think this one an form 7 are my favorites. I wonder.. IF since THIS is basically the attacking form and form 3 was the defensive form. IF Anakin had been regarded as THE absolute Form 5 Master to be of his time an Jedi Order the way his Master Kenobi was regarded as THE Form 3 Master to be like would the 2 Force Users basically been able to go on about forever OR would Dark Anakin been able to overpower Kenobi alot sooner then first thought? Since his lack of experience and mastery of his Saber form is probably large part of why it was taking so long to defeat Kenobi since he excelled as the Orders BEST when it came to Defense but Anakin was merely A attacker instead of THE attacker.

How could reverse grip be more powerful? It literally is the most compromised way that your wrist loses leverage advantage.!! use another excuse for reverse grip don’t use more powerful. That’s stupid.
