I think the idea that the Jedi are becoming corrupt is something people don't tend to pick up. I noticed it, of course, and it makes sense. In fact, had Clone Wars not been canceled, there was going to be an episode where the council sends Quinlan Vos to assassinate Dooku. Not arrest. ASSASSINATE. They turned this plot into the novel Dark Disciple, and it shows how the Jedi are turning to a dark place, but are too blinded by their ego to see it.

+MALayhee700 dude the Jedi, as shown in the video, and as obvious in the movie, were hypocrites. while "corrupt" is a strong word, its closest to accurate. they were no different than cops trying to have more power, and end crime before it happened. Anakin peeped the hypocrisy in their logic, and was conflicted between what he should do, what he believed to be right, and what he was ordered. The emphasis on his mother and wife(2 things most if not all jedi before had no attachments to) shows how hard it was for him to conform to their mindset. he was punished for being human, and as he saw the jedi act more and more like criminals, he began to withdraw from them, until he snapped, and switched sides.

Yep. Much like the regret every generation has for throwing away all their "embarrassingly childish toys and lame kid-stuff" only to long to have those things again once the relentless taunting of early adolescence ends. For many, many fans, the Prequels were "theirs". They may not have been old enough to have seen the Original Trilogy in theaters, but they most certainly were not going to miss the opportunity to claim these new prequel films. The backlash and animosity for the "travesty" that dared bear the name Star Wars was brutal. Has that sentiment changed? Well, Hayden Christensen finally coming out of "hiding" and appearing at Star Wars Celebration appears to answer that. A resurgence in support for the Prequels is right on cue. It's always only a matter of time.

I understand everyone has their own personal feelings about the prequels but I personally love them, maybe since I saw them first but anyway. The originals had a simple hero's tale storyline with Luke as the good guy and Vader as the bad guy and a couple of twists and turns making them easy to follow and understand. But since the prequels were a broadening of the whole story, they were never supposed to be that same simple hero's tale plot of the originals. I think since the focus was on Anakin becoming Vader it was supposed to ended up making all 6 films a story of tragedy. That's one of the reasons I love the prequels.

Yes because in 1999 we had all the nostalgic morons, a very loud minority that had their time and their unfair and harsh criticism was fun for a little while, but then people grew sick of them, in the meantime we grew up, we saw a George Lucas walk away from his movies selling them to disney because he was so fed up with all these nostalgic morons and then of course the new trilogy happened and revealed all the actual flaws of the Sequels too. The New Trilogy is a modern reflection upon the Sequels, just like these nostalgic morons wished for all this time. Well now they got what they asked for and they can shut up because the new trilogy sucks, it makes no sense, lightsabers don't even cut parts of the body like they used to (because it's Disney and Disney hates gruesome scenes because "it's for kids" (although kids of today like fortnight more than Star Wars...)) and probably people re-watched the Sequels and saw how bad they actually are compared to the Prequels. Of Course the Sequels are not bad movies for their time, for their time are brilliant - revolutionary movies but if these morons say the Prequels are bad (again for their time the Prequels were revolutionary and awesome) then the Sequels are 100 times worse. I don't hate the Sequels (I love the Sequels) I hate these nostalgic M O R O N S and their unfair critisism because in 1999 they were too old to understand why 10 year old us loved them.

It's implied Ray was trained. While it is true her mind is clearly wiped, she shows surprising melee combat skill towards the beginning of the movie, and most of what she does in the movie is a case of monkey see, monkey do, with some potential 'force' or 'muscle' memory. She didn't just go 'huh, I bet I can jedi mind trick that storm trooper.' She had Kylo try to use it ON HER FIRST, and she managed to fight back with sheer willpower. Only after that did she consider, "huh... maybe I can do the same thing..." And people also forget a lot of innate traits that all force sensitive people have. Even those not trained still have enhanced reflexes, can predict what is about to happen, and have unusual aptitude in mechanics and piloting. Ray does very little different from Anakin or Luke, save for what appears to be forced amnesia.

@VaningDC9 жыл бұрын
+Rhas 'Churol can someone explain how they were poorly developed? Surely I'm missing something? Everyone treats the sequels as if they are a national treasure that cannot be faulted. Why was "the most fearsome sith, i.e. the emperor and Vader" so... tame? why does vader, who killed younglings in his past, allow his commanders to speak ill about him and his "religion" in episode 4, and then not even kill him when another officer says "vader enough". The vader I know would have wiped the room clean on a comment like that. The emperor too. He sat in his chair the entire time. What if Luke turned Vader in episode 5 when vader sees luke and remembers him as an embodiment of everything he lost in padme, and then father and son take on the ultimate enemy, the emperor? why does luke force choke the guards when entering jabba's palace in episode 6? Why is Yoda such a jar jar when we first meet him on dagoba? TLDR: the sequels had just as much wrong with them as the prequels. It's SO easy to take something that exists and pick it apart, and another thing entirely to imagine a world and a story from scratch. I feel Lucas was bullied out of his own baby (star wars) because of fanboys.

I always believed that if Qui Gon didn't die, Anakin wouldn't have turned to the dark side. Qui Gon unlike Obi Wan was more unconventional as a Jedi, he was also much older and wiser than Anakin that Anakin could've respected as a mentor or father figure. Obi Wan otoh was too young, too inexperienced, too close in age to Anakin, and too unbending to understand and be able to reach Anakin. To Anakin, Obi Wan came across as an older brother who belittled him every chance he got, but what Anakin needed was an older mentor-father figure who would've been more tactful in dealing with his temptuous, vulnerable, and rebellious ways that could've explained or taught him ways/lessons that didn't come across as illogical/unreasonable, ways that an older inexperienced brother couldn't have taught/reached him with..

One of the biggest plot holes in the prequels that seems to be missed by everyone that I've read is that the "Prophecy" was to bring "balance to the Force." Forgive me for being simple minded, but didn't the Jedi openly state that they thought the Sith had been extinct for hundreds of years??? If that was true then the Jedi have been terribly one sided towards the light side for all those hundreds of years. One can only conclude that "balance" would necessarily mean the RETURN of the Sith. Head slap... I caught that back in 1999 during Ep1! Am I alone here?
@Enforcedstorm49 жыл бұрын

+Jubei Kibugame Alas, Lucas himself has stated the 'Light Side' is the balance, and that the existence of the 'Dark Side' is a perversion of the natural order. @dinoschachten8 жыл бұрын
I agree - especially about the emotion in Ep3. But at the same time I have to constantly facepalm at the bad filmmaking (lighting, timing and pace - long discussions are okay and sometimes necessary, but cutting scenes from a film while keeping seconds of no action, no dialogue, no emotion in many of the scenes is... well, weird) and the illogic of Jedi not acting like Jedi and their force senses working perfectly and then suddenly not at all (like Jedi being shot down way too easily by clones, seemingly having no decent reflexes at all - of course they can be killed by too many blasters, but not sensing the impending attack at all is just not credible), them discussing, but never drawing conclusions, much less act upon them (like concluding or sensing(!) that Anakin is on a dark path, or too attached - and sending him to training, meditation, anything that would easily have helped or at least revealed the danger instead of just not trusting him)... So I agree, Ep3 was fucking great and intense - and super terribly written and directed at the same time.

It just didn't seem to help anything with the scene to keep the suspension of disbelief, that's all. Seeing the cast in other films before and after, Hayden especially, their delivery of dialogue is vastly different. Basically, Hayden IS a very good actor with enormous potential and I just don't think he should be getting grief for doing what he was asked to do. Prequels were set in a time of political struggle. I think it was IMPORTANT for main characters to be overly dramatic, borderline romantizised. They life started in a more secure time- before the rise of Sith lords as rules of the galaxy. That, combined the fact that Star Wars always had the soapy feel to it... and you get a movie that just cannot portray the feeling with overexageration x1000. I liked them. They had their weaknesses, but they were in lore. They made sense. Dark Side is not anger. Dark Side is too much of EMOTIONS. And in 3 movies we see how Anakin opens up to Palpatines mindfuckery. He literaly uses unlimited love of Anakin to make him into a bad guy. And this in turn, kills Padme. In a way she died to protect her children. She knew with the death of Anakin(birth of Vader) she would be pursued. He would hunt them down to kill the last proof that he had a life before the suit. That struggle returned when he met Luke. That culminated in him killing Palpatine and ushering an era without Siths...that Disney decided to shit on and end cus money. I liked the prequels. They give me the same feeling when watching old noir movies. Overly dramatical script with overly dramatical acting. I think Lucas wanted to separate the social behaviour of people (and they innocence) in a different era than when we see Luke.

One other element of the Prequels that I appreciate: exposition. They represent an attempt to flesh out the many material conditions from which the Star Wars saga arises - whether these are social, political, historical or, um, biological (i.e. midichlorians). I find the impetus interesting and laudable, if ultimately impossible - introducing some kind of "reality principle" to fantasy. The reason I like this approach so much is that it is very rare in Hollywood - big budget science-fiction that offers up an expansive and immersive vision of alternate universes that, in turn, treat this vision seriously and attempt to realize it as fully as possible. While the Prequels are interesting for this reason - that is, both conceptually and as stories - they sadly make for bad cinema. And yet, the reason I am fascinated by the Prequels is precisely why the Disney films nauseate me: the sheer lack of exposition, no clear causal links to actions or events (again, those material conditions I mentioned above) and how little the audience is taken seriously - our collective emotional and intellectual investment in the characters and ideas and story itself. Which is a critique one could make of bad art generally, not just Hollywood.

I've always preferred revenge of the sith to the originals. The story is far more cerebral and Machivelian. There's no doubt why most Star Wars fans object to higher thought. But regardless, Lucas' message (scattered throughout the franchise) is that despite taking positions of good and evil the only position that actually exists is neither. Chew on that or call me evil. I don't care and neither did Lucas. We're both right.

Wait, most Star Wars fans object to higher thought? How about the fact that in the OT Luke expects to meet a great warrior, and his misconceptions are shattered by Yoda? Meanwhile, the prequels just show Yoda participating in lightsaber combat because fuck consistency, let's make Yoda a badass despite of the fact that the whole reason Yoda exists in the Star Wars universe is to dispel the myth of "badassery". How is the story more cerebral? The conspiracy could have been uncovered in a million different ways but I guess everyone thought "we shouldn't ask any questions or investigate this situation at all for George Lucas' convenience".

What a pretentious comment. Also, don't bring that "cerebral" nonsense in here when the Prequels brought lightsabers and fight scenes into the movie every chance they were able to. There's subtext in every major lightsaber duel in the OT, with the Prequels, not so much. Finally, your little sentence about Lucas' "message" is bullshit, too. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about the Sith/Dark Side. Yeah, the Jedi have faults, but the Sith are straight up bad guys. You enjoy Revenge of the Sith more than the OT because you like to pretend you're smart by watching a movie that prattles on about politics in the clunkiest way possible, yet you don't even notice the massive differences in filmmaking between the Prequels and OT.

i would agree if it weren't for 1 scene that in my opinion truly ruins the movie and the character of Anakin/Vader.. the killing the youngling's scene.. it didnt need to happen we already knew that what anakin was doing was kinda bad u know.. they didn't need to turn him into a fuucking cartoon villain who simply do bad thing for bad yes yes.. fuck sake add to that the fact that he was so happy about the news of becoming a father it just seems so comically sad that he does it.. really is a stupid scene. a strong scene would be him saving them simply to show that above all his hatred and disagreement with the jedies he would still be human and he would be shown to really really care for his own children in a weird way through that...which would make the tragedy around vader even sadder and fucked up.

@@natschaefer1044 but it would still be there even without and would still be a strong scene because we have just seen him destroy himself, his ''friends'' or whatever and everything he once held dear/believed in. and to be truthfully the Mustafar scene doesn't get influenced by the scene of the younglings sure it adds to it. but the reference and the connection comes from the jedi temple scene's in general as it is him destroying himself and being aware of it meanwhile. and if anything the Mustafar scene shows that he ain't just pure evil yet i can't say the same for the younglings scene. he litterely goes directly for the defenseless kids while being happy about awaiting a kid himself to think that he can kill all of those kids just like that while thinking about his own kids is just pure evil and thats not what vader is so yeah it ruins him for me....

The Jedi loosing their way is the whole prequel theme. From certain points of view, it did seem as if the Jedi got what was coming. Not only from disobeying the code, but joining in another war which caused so much death, destruction, and the "imbalance" that Anakin as the chosen one was tasked to restore
@joshuajanus12538 жыл бұрын
wasn't Anakin meant to bring balance to the force? The way I see it, not a whole lot of the dark side of the force present in the Clone Wars, compared to the thousands of light side Jedi. Sure light is good and all, but that sounds pretty unbalanced to me. As soon as Mace died, which Anakin effectively caused the death of, then most of the Jedi got assassinated
@ahmadalhashmi89408 жыл бұрын
TankBusta The Jedi code is shit as all hell and just doesn't make sense, if I was a Jedi, I would've ran the hell away. Jedi shouldn't show emotion? I'd rather not be forced to transform into Bella from twilight, hiding my humanity seems like a great thing to do. Also Not love? That's just a lazy way George Lucas wanted to add drama for the romance. How do the Jedi breed? Will they just go extinct due to not forming a romantic relationship? They did break the Jedi code, while that is incredibly condradicting to their beliefs, it doesn't make them bad, grey just not bad. Sith on the other hand, the were NEVER shown having any good in them. They are 100% straight out bad people. It wouldn't make sense for you to think of them as even slightly better then the Jedi.

To be fair, they were picked up as young children when starting their training. I'd imagine for the same reason guerilla groups do the same thing. That it's easier to mold them into killing machines that take orders when doing that... albeit much younger for the Jedi. So before they have any real concept of those emotions, they're pushed out of them. Which is why Anakin's story is so different, because he'd been through the suffering of being a slave and his intense bonding with his mother, being that he was much older than they usually are upon recruitment.

Joaquin Rivera Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

Marvi .D. Smilodon *Visible confusion* did you miss the part where Anakin tired his best to be a good person? Sure he wasn't an angel but he wasn't satan either. In the end it was the Jedi's fault, they ignored his feelings for his mother and Padme and so when he saw a Jedi break the Jedi code, the rule that had him suffer his entire life, he just commited to the dark side and he consumed his anger on the people who had caused him to suffer his all life, the Jedi. Anakin isn't a good person, but he isn't someone who was evil just for the sake of being evil either, he had a motivation for every bad action he did beside maybe Dooku's assasination and even there, sure he didn't have to do it but he was at war with him (and his master said "DO IT."). Then killing all the falmilies of those who killed his mother, over the top, I agree, but not compleatlty unjustified. Killing the younglings in the Jedi temple... was a dick move, but it was an imperial order by his master, not only would it have been treason but if he didn't do it, someone else would have anyway. in short, he's bad with a motivation, it might be a stupid one, but there was one for each bad thing he did.

I don't really understand why people are bashing these films. For me, Jar Jar Binks and too much childish humor (e.g. comical aliens in general) was the only serious problem with Episode 1. In Episodes 2 and 3 some of the dialogue and acting was quite horrible (mostly concerning the romance of Anakin and Padmé, as well as the "Nooooooooo" scene in the end of the E3). Otherwise they weren't that bad. I still enjoyed the prequels more than episodes 7 and 8. I hoped to see Kyle Katarn or Mara Jade in them, but no.

I always heard people say that Anakin came off as a petulant, bratty teenager; and that was supposed to mean he was badly portrayed or uncompelling. I thought it was brilliant. You have this character who was revered ever since surviving a torturous upbringing, being treated with distrust and basically raised as a child soldier, in effect always being a slave. No childhood to speak of, forced to fight and kill for a group that never really cared about his wants and needs. It made him angry and rebellious; with no proper emotional development or support he lashed out like the demented child he was.

The prequels were never bad movies and weren't even considered as such by most critics, they were just thought of as decent to good being rated 5/10 (TPM) 6/10 (AOTC) and then 7.5/10 (ROTS) on average and you can check that out yourself. Also most star wars fans love ROTS and on the online polls when asked what the best star wars movie around 50% of people say ESB with the second highest being ROTS with 25% and if you fail to see whats good about the preuqels first read the book Darth Plageius second watch the clone wars tv show and third read this list below: All the good stuff about the prequels: Some of the acting (yes there were some horrible performances but some good too like Ian Mcdiarmid, Ewen Mcgregor, Samuel L Jackson, Christopher Lee and arguably Liam Neeson) Order 66 long panning scenic shots The new unique places and planets the more vast and lived in vibe Costumes and makeup The clone wars (in the movies and the tv series itself) Soundtrack Build up and Climax The Sith/Dark side most of the effects (just look at all the ships, planets and space segments) The action, including battles and pod racing (no criticism) The parallels to Hitlers rise (though they could have been summarized and there should have been more manipulation shown plus the consequences) The unease between the republic and the jedi. The republic blame the jedi for the war and think they should have no rights or say but yet still aid them(while you can tell its there it's not as obvious as it should have been) The irony and corruptness of the jedi (despite what they say, they don't believe in the balance of the force, their to much light side orientated so much so that they have gone down on a darker path to remove emotions and keep their power thus being blinded refusing to admit the sith are back, seen mainly through mace windu who believes himself as the chosen one) Palplatine pulling strings (again should have been made more obvious but it is cannon that he had something to do with Smi Skywalker's death and he himself killed Padme with the force, just look it up i dont have time to explain) the tragic and dark story the iconic characters (darth maul, Palplatine, Kenobi, Yoda) All of the dark presence in Anikan seen marks the end of the clone wars first epic 30 minutes of revenge of the sith space battle last minut in revenge of the sith setting up a new hope Revenge of the sith as a whole And yes the lightsaber fights, but while some see them as over choreographed there not. These are people who are supernatural, who have extraordinary abilities (the ability of the force) using it constantly through fights to jump high, strike faster, put off their opponent and to predict the near future (where their opponent is going to strike) plus they've been training this for years so it makes sense that they would be extremely efficient at it. Finally there not rated bad, Revenge of the sith is scored like 0.1% under return of the Jedi (by a combined score of pretty much all critics) and the rest of the prequels are rated decent, never under an average score of 5, most films are worse than them and there is a dedicated fan base to them which are many in numbers, probably more than the haters. But don't get me wrong, almost everyone (me included) share the opinion that the original trilogy is better (though Revenge of the sith is in a lot of peoples top 3) but that doesn't mean that the prequel trilogy is bad.

Some of the things you written here as good are the reason why they turned out bad. Too much dependency on effects driven direction. They were in an era of better technology and they made whole scenes just to show it off through pod races, gungan city, way too many alien races and planets, and ridiculous star fights. Overwhelming the audience and diminishing from the actual story's pacing.

I'm reading through Matthew Stover's Revenge of the Sith novelization. I'm going to say this: For me, Stover does a really good job of how Sidious manipulates Anakin. Anakin's thoughts as he learns he kills Padme was done really well. For me, its so much better than the movie. I like the prequels a lot more than your average person, but Stover does a great job. Not perfect, as some dialogue is not-so-fantastic, but really, really well. Apologies if unwelcomed. What Sidious said to Anankin when manipulating him, his philosophy on the Jedi and Sith, was really good and made fair amount of sense to not only Anakin In-universe, but to I myself as a reader - to me, in my humble opinion, at the very least. I truly liked Vader's thoughts as he learns he killed Padme. The "Nooooooo!!!!" scream is not in the novel, and it seems Padme genuinely died at Anakin's hand gradually. I recommend Matthew Stover's book to you not only because it does almost (I say "almost" because SOME of the dialogue is not so fantastic, but great other than that.) everything better, gives insight onto the situations and the character's thoughts, but above all else: You get to see WHY Anakin does the things he does. To me, Sidious' words to Anakin and his manipulation of him makes a fair amount of sense to me as a reader and fan of Star Wars. At one point in the novel, Anakin is suspecting that there is someone between him and Padme, so he squeezes her shoulders (Not enough to kill her, or crush her shoulders, but it still hurt a little bit) , she says "you're hurting us", and he stops, as she explains she is pregnant. That is all I'm going to tell you; wouldn't want to spoil it all. Here is an excerpt: 'Anakin was barely paying attention; in his mind, he was already leaving the Council Chamber, riding the turbolift to the archives, demanding access to the restricted vault by authority of his new rank-"You will attend the meetings of this Council," the Korun Master said, "but you will not be granted the rank and privileges of a Jedi Master." "What?" It was a small word, a simple word, an instinctive recoil from words that felt like punches, like stun blasts exploding inside his brain that left his head ringing and the room spinning around him-but even to his own ears, the voice that came from his lips didn't sound like his own. It was deeper, darker, clipped and oiled, resonating from the depths of his heart. It didn't sound like him at all, and it smoked with fury. "How dare you? How dare you?" Anakin stood welded to the floor, motionless. He wasn't even truly aware of speaking. It was as if someone else were using his mouth-and now, finally, he recognized the voice. It sounded like Dooku. But it was not Dooku's voice. It was the voice of Dooku's destroyer. "No Jedi in this room can match my power-no Jedi in the galaxy! You think you can deny Mastery to me?" "The Chancellor's representative you are," Yoda said. "And it is as his representative you shall attend the Council. Sit in this Chamber you will, but no vote will you have. The Chancellor's views you shall present. His wishes. His ideas and directives. Not your own." Up from the depths of his furnace heart came an answer so far transcending fury that it sounded cold as interstellar space. "This is an insult to me, and to the Chancellor. Do not imagine that it will be tolerated." Mace Windu's eyes were as cold as the voice from Anakin's mouth. "Take your seat, young Skywalker." Anakin matched his stare. Perhaps I'll take yours. His own voice inside his head, had a hot black fire that smoked from the depths of his furnace heart. You think you can stop me from saving my love? You think you can make me watch her die? Go ahead and Vaapad this, you-"Anakin," Obi-Wan said softly. He gestured to an empty seat beside him. "Please." And something in Obi-Wan's gentle voice, in his simple, straightforward request, sent his anger slinking off ashamed, and Anakin found himself alone on the carpet in the middle of the Jedi Council, blinking. He suddenly felt very young, and very foolish. "Forgive me, Masters." His bow of contrition couldn't hide the blaze of embarrassment that climbed his cheeks.' And probably the part I like the most: 'This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever: The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain. The light burns you. It will always burn you. Part of you will always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames chew upon your flesh. You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don't even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever. *Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me? * And you can't, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your brain. You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around you. Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that is hideous. *Padmé? Are you here? Are you all right? *you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat. "Padmé? Are you here? Are you all right?" I'm very sorry, Lord Vader. I'm afraid she died. It seems in your anger, you killed her. This burns hotter than the lava had. "No … no, it is not possible!" You loved her. You will always love her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember … You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader's blood. You remember the furnace of Vader's fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth- And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself … It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith- Because now your self is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were, you are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself- And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Forever …'

"The parallels to Hitlers rise" actually I feel like it resembles Caesar's and Augustus' more Palpanine and Anakin act like Augustus and Caesar (not in the sense that Palpatine is Augustus or that Anakin is Caesar, both together act like them) examples: *The Jedi reappresent all political avversaries of both Caesar and Augustus. *Palpatine and Augustus use popular support to get more and more power (in Palpatine's case convincing the senate that the Jedi are evil in Augustus'es bringing up Caesar's glory) *March on Rome (rappresented by the Jedi temple) with Anaking resembling Caesar. *Assasination of Caesar is close to the attempted assasination of Palpatine, and in fact after the "attempt on his life" Palpatine behaves only like Augustus. *Windu resembles Brutus because... well the assasination attempt, but also because popular opinion after the event is MASSIVELY against him and what he stood for (democracy for Brutus and the position of the Jedi for Windu). They also get used as "hate figures"/scape goats by Augustus and by Palpatine. *Anakin being good in war is like Caesar these are the ones that came into my head right now but I'm sure there are many more. another parallel can be Mussolini's rise to power... but Mussolini acted like that BECAUSE he wanted to resemble Caesar... so it all connects there and the connection with ancient Rome feels stronger then the one with Fascism. I'm not an expert on how Hitler rose to power... from what I know he killed his avversaries via SS and then got himself appointed to Chanselor and then became dictator, but this doesn't really resemble Palpatine's rise. Palpatine never really killed avversaries, he just waited for the right moment to strike. (ok he did say "DO IT" that one time with Dooku but it's not like Palpatine feared Dooku)

@Sultru I hope you've developed your opinion since you wrote this, Boba Fett was useless in the originals, Jango Fett gave fans an idea of what Boba COULD have been. And how does one villain make a film better? (Ignoring the fact that the originals had Vader, Sidious, Tarkin, Jabba, various bounty hunters, so certainly not one villain, the prequels had Maul, Dooku, Grevious, Palpatine, some Vader late on and various Bounty hunters, so maybe 2 more villains?)

I feel like most people don’t like the movies, but the definite majority of active Star Wars fans find the Clone Wars interesting. The Clone Wars has much more potential than the original trilogy in terms of a fictional universe, but the original trilogy has richer themes

I never disliked the prequels. When I was 11 and I saw episode 1 playing on tv and the Nubian starship was taking off in the desert of Tatooine it was the coolest thing ever to me. There are many obvious problems in the and some things that I wish were done differently but they were part of my childhood and I think they are overall good for the purpose they serve. The clone wars tv show kind of redeemed the bad and awkward storytelling in my opinion and it fits in well with the prequels.

If The Clone Wars tv show has a massive following and praise, more than Rebels, then I think there are more people ok with the prequels contrary to popular belief. They're just not as open to talking about it because they know Original Trilogy elitists will shoot them down if they express even the slightest amount of pleasure from watching the prequels.

I'm not a huge fan of making into a cartoon they did the same thing with the Mummy and it wasn't good. also never watched it but I gather than Anakin had an apprentice and Darth Maul lived. Which is a contradiction. For one Darth Vader in A new hope said to Obi Wan that last time they met he was a learner meaning he was never a master and always Obi Wan's Apprentice even in episode 3. And I guess Maul could have lived but that's a loud of shit in itself. Those cartoons are just another thing that ruined starwars and made it more about getting as much money out of star wars as possible which is retarded because they were already selling merchandise after the originals did they really need to milk star wars and if they were going to milk it couldn't they have at least followed the original fucking script of the original movie. And I am not talking about Disney fuck Disney. Clone Wars can only be canon if a new hope isn't canon. And you can't make the original movie not canon.
@AlexYBITW8 жыл бұрын
***** It's not because you teach somebody that you can't be a learner yourself you know Anakin, in episode 3, was a Jedi knight, with Obi-Wan they were just partners, he wasn't his " apprentice ", but can still learn some things from the master, see ? And Darth Maul back was pretty cool, I mean come on it's Darth Maul ! Now having him in Rebels I'm not sure about it, but we'll see. I suppose Vader will kill him once and for all which is bad, I think Obi-Wan should be the one to kill him

@rafaelbronzatti14487 жыл бұрын
He commit's the same mistake, because in trying to rebuild the order Luke gets caught in the order codes and philosophy to which he was the last heir. That is why he says the Jedi should end, and why he was going to set fire unto the texts, and is also why Yoda force ghost does it, as the old jedi master has moved beyond it, showing that Luke should do the same. Thus the Jedi die and are reborn in that movie.

The Jedi were just a misguided as the Sith. The reason the counsel was reluctant enroll Anakin was because they suspected he was too old to be brainwashed into accepting their dogma. Lucas had a good story, he was just completely wrong about which plot elements would be the most interesting. Somebody in the comments below mentioned that the prequels were doomed to suck because everybody knew where the story was headed, but coming from the original trilogy, nobody imagined that the Jedi were just as wrong about the force as the Sith, and that the Jedi weren't necessarily "good." The prequels had the chance to flip everybody's notion about the dark and light side on it's head, but that opportunity was completely missed. It's such a shame.

Another problem with prequels is too much comic relief, from Jar-Jar and battle droids to idiotic dialogue.
@NYG58 жыл бұрын
skinni45 the problem was, the in your face comic relief just wasn't funny. Ewan McGregor and some of Hayden were funny, they actually did pretty well together in Episode 2. Most of it was bad. Droid voices in episode 3, C3P0 nonsense in 2, Jar Jar obviously, it was so forced. It's amazing to think that the guy who came up with the Han/Leia banter is the same guy who came up with Meesa
@neosashi8 жыл бұрын
Man, everybody says episode 3 was the best of the prequels, but I think it is the worst simply because of the over-cartoonization of the droids, but you are the first person I have come across to ever make that same complaint. Glad that somebody shares the same sentiment as me. What I also find strange is that the battle droids in Episode 1 were not cartoony at all. Why the hell would George make such a drastic change to the droids' personalities like that? So stupid.
@NYG58 жыл бұрын
Thankfully the stupid droids, like Jar Jar, only act campy for brief moments. It is puzzling, considering they are portrayed as rather formidable in Episode I and II. The whole intro to Episode III is just awkward as fuck because of it
@LudusAurea8 жыл бұрын
You're thinking of Episode 2. Episode 3 literally only had 2 scenes with Droids that actually said words, one them only a few words where R2D2 melted some battledroids. The other was Grievous who wasn't entirely Droid, and the magna guards. No cartoonization occurred.

+Enforcedstorm4 Dude, FINALLY someone else realizes that the Jedi Council shown in the prequels was actually at FAULT. I can't believe barely anyone has realized this. That is why Yoda is also the way he is on Degobah in Empire, he is alot less serious, probably because he's been thinking about how and why the Jedi all got slaughtered and were blinded by their traditional ways, and not being able to see the true light side of the force, but just by being dogmatic followers. The prequels are way better and more subtly clever than people realize.

Hey, you guys ever notice something about the droids in the prequels? C3P-O was built by young Darth Vader. Droids in the Episode I are very droid like, with robotic personalities - until R2 meets 3P-O. That's when R2 gets his spunky attitude. C3P-O gets his head attached to a battle droid at the end of Episode II. In Episode III, the battle droids are running from the Jedi and screaming "Ow!" when they get cut down, exhibiting fear and a desire for self-preservation. Some battle droids even get mad at each other in Episode III. What if boy Anakin created a personality A.I. in 3P-O that spread like a virus, giving droids sentient life throughout the galaxy?
