I have got this! I learned I cannot eat those huge bowls of food some people on this lifestyle do. I'm 73 and smaller portions work best for me. I eat till I'm about 80% full. That is the ticket for me. Thank you for your videos and great information and support!

4 months after this video aired - I've got this. You are sooooo down to earth and relatable. When there are so many glamorous 20-somethings-making recipies with 50 organic ingredients, with their perfect glistening smiles, and I feel disconnected from their glamorous lives... you are beautiful - and wholesome, and yet relatable for an over-fifty lady who does not spend her days on Instagram. You are heaven-sent. Thank you so much for your honesty and for being so 'normal'.

This video was very helpful! I found that being plant based has really shown me how to eat. I never in my life have been able to eat at a healthy pace, stop before getting uncomfortablly full but, things are changing for me and it feels good.

Debbie, this is a great video! It's always great to have reminders such as this. It doesn't always have to be recipes. This is actually an area that I don't hear other macdougallers talking about enough, in my opinion. Thank you for putting this together.

I’ve got this… My 1st 3 months of eating WFPB/ SOS Free/Vegan was a living nightmare and I honestly felt like I was detoxing from drugs. I told my Dr this and she told me that my body was adjusting to not having all those bad foods I used to eat and trying to get used to eating good nutritional healthy foods and that if I would just stick with it eventually it would work out and I would start feeling so much better. I’m so glad that I listened to her and I put my trust in her that she was guiding me in the right direction and in 5 months time I’ve lost 35 pounds and accomplished getting off of all my blood pressure medication that I have been taking for over 20 years. It was affecting me mentally and physically and I’m just so happy that I stuck with it and hope that I will continue to lose the weight and get off of more medication and feel better than I have ever felt in my life. Excellent video Debbie I found it very inspiring. I am a late night snacker I just ate nearly 1 cup of nuts and it's 1 am!! So your video put it all into perspective I can't just have 2 or 3 nuts like I think I can when I buy them so don't buy them LOL. I’ve got this! I wish that were true, but sadly I’ve been sneaking in foods not so good for me and it shows. Recently it’s been pistachios and the occasional Beyond Burger 😣. I know what I need to do, I just need to get into the right mindset. Life does throw curve balls from time to time

#1 mindless eating rang true with me. I love to cook and found myself 'grazing' during meal preps then still eating big meal. Weightloss was way slow, then stopped. So I munched on baby carrots at that time. Then after a while, got out of the habit of grazing. I started losing weight again. Now, strange but true..I don't snack between meals at all. Thank you for this great information!

I've got this! #3 is good for me to be aware of. I eat too much, too fast. Being too busy and trying to eat quickly, also being taught to "finish what's on your plate", I don't pay attention to when I get full. After I have had too much, too fast, and I'm too full.

I've got this!! I have been on starch solution for a little over a year and I have stalled after 20 lb weight loss. I think its all on me though because of exercise but that is something I can easily jump into. I feel great and do have occasional bad days but I won't give up! Slowly but surely I will reach my goals and the most important of those goals is to be healthy everything else will fall into place!! Thank u so much for your encouragement we do need it sometimes 💗 💕 💓

@@jgrysiak6566 2 meals one at 2:30 and one at 6:30 done by 7. sometimes a snack or two, fruit or hummus and crackers. I fast for 18-20 hours depending on the day.

Odd. On page 2 of The McDougall Program for Maximum Weight Loss he states “You can forget portion control forever”. He goes on “Meanwhile,you will lose weight”. “ That’s the experience of hundreds of thousands of people who have followed my program”.

Absolutely. He also says to eat till you are comfortably full. But we are all different especially those of us that are post menopausal. It's not a one size fits all. Yes it is one size fits mist. But if you aren't losing weight on the starch solution then you may want to adjust.

In your diet do you have fresh juices?fruit & vegetable juices. Please can you guide me or your opinion is much important, as love juice.

Juicing is not recommended on the starch solution. It is better to eat the whole fruit or veggie. Juice is too caloric dense. Unless you are not trying to lose weight. If you haven't reade the starch solution I would recommend you doing so. Also check out Jeff novick and chef AJ on you tube to learn more about calorie density. I hope that helps❤️

I am watching this while my overweight husband is eating a cheeseburger and fries complaining of wanting to get rid of his belly. I love him and would love to do this together. It makes me feel so far from him when everyone but him is on board. All his crap food is so tempting some days!! I decided to be a good role model for my kids and leave it at that. Thank you for your videos - they are incredibly helpful.

That's really all you can do! Lead by example. My husband is not 100% plant based but eats so much better than he did when I went vegan 11 years ago. Be patient, he may never be 100% but he will feel your influence and see your progress. When I started really getting into cooking he started loving the food. So give it time. My husband and I have learned to respect each others choices.

I’ve got most of this! My struggle has been eating and grazing until I’m uncomfortably full. I do like to eat smaller portions and to eat more often (5-6 times a day). Is that healthy? I’ve heard conflicting advice.

I prefer to eat 2 to 3 times a day. For me it helps with insulin resistance. But if eating 5-6 times a day works for you then that is all that matters. It's not unhealthy.
