The stars of 'Red Joan'

This movie is abhorrent, mostly because it is said to be based on fact? In the Movie Joan is a Cambridge Physicist and scientific prodigy, who we are told came up with idea to use a centrifuge to purify Uranium amongst other things. But Melita Norwood on which the movie was based did none of this. She attempted to study Latin at Southampton University , dropped out after a year and moved to London where she landed a Job as a Secretary at the Top Secret Tube Alloy Project despite the fact that her Communist activities (and those of her Communist Husband) were known to her employer. She was just a typist and secretary, with no knowledge or insight at all about the subject matter or what effect it and her actions might have on the world. Her activities were not due to some noble intention for world peace or inspired by the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as suggested in the film. Her motivation was Russia and Communism. She was a Communist spy and a traitor to her country. This movie is nothing more than a very ill judged load of old feminist claptrap, that will leave its audience thinking that Red Joan was a heroine of some kind as thus so was Norwood. I have spent all my life championing the cause of TRUE and REAL female scientists who were scandalously overlooked by the Scientific Establishment. But no one makes any films about them. Artistic licence is all well and good in movie making but making a real life traitor into a fictional Heroine by her own countrymen is UNFORGIVABLE.

I also made a rather longish comment below the U-tube clip of the Official trailer of this movie, where I explain its inaccurate timescale of Britain's vital contribution to the development of the A-Bomb As you know we weren't competitors in the race to develop a 'super-bomb' but partners; look it up.

Unforgivable yes but the "Mode" of the day...a sham...I couldn't watch the film myself because of all the pain and misery people like her caused to the world. They were just ignorant and corrupt and they enabled the deaths of millions at the hands of totalitarian communist regimes. Briefly if we trace the nuclear path they created (Klaus Fuchs was the main moron in this but there were many many others) we see what kind of threat they have put the world under: USSR goes nuclear and gives the tech to China who gives it to India, Pakistan, and No. Korea, and No. Korea tries to give it to Iraq and homicidal Saadam and genicidal Syria but Israel stops them, however Korea has successfully given it to the mullocracy in Iran, the largest sponsor of world terrorism.
