Sometimes things are meant to happen. This was Lucy's last public appearance, and it was to a standing ovation. Next to her, a legend of comedy and a class act. I love the look on her face when the audience stands. She feels the love, and we do love her. Rest in peace to these legends.

She could be agitated and curt with the public but it should be noted that the 4 times she was on What’s my Line and even her this night she always graciously bowed to the audience. She wasn’t boastful about her career because it was her job and that’s it. She never forgot her audience who without would be doing something else. She didn’t take them for granted.

This was so nice that Lucy had this moment shortly before her death. I know she had stayed out of the public after her failed tv program. Metro424 interesting how even the famous with such long and storied careers like Lucy has could end on such a sad note. It was only perhaps the last 5 years of a 50 plus year show biz career ( I read how her last sitcom failed miserably) that was considered a failure. But on a hopeful note. A person could be considered a failure for his or her whole life and end on a happy note where the last couple of years before they die are happy years.Never give up on life!!!!!!

But Hope himself convinced her to do it, and she looked magnificent. A great final bow for the Queen of Comedy. Lucy also had oral surgery the day of the taping, so she was in some discomfort. Lastly, she was also still was suffering from the after effects of the stroke she suffered a few years earlier, and had learned to speak slower and enunciate her words more clearly because her speech was still slightly slurred due to the stroke. But it looked like she had a great time, and that makes me smile, especially since she had so little time left to spend on Earth with us. God Bless Lucille Ball.

What makes this more special is knowing where Lucille Ball was emotionally by this time. Her sitcom Life With Lucy has been canceled, and Desi Arnaz had died. I once talked with someone who was connected to someone in Lucy's inner circle, and she told me that Lucy was convinced at the end that people didn't love her anymore. That's why this moment rings so special. This was supposed to be a celebration of the new generation of Hollywood, but it was turned into a moment where Hollywood (not even knowing that Lucy would soon be gone in a few weeks) stood up and said in effect "We will ALWAYS love you, Lucy."

Many people do not win Oscars in their life times. This actually marks the time where the word MOVIE STAR/ACTOR gets redefinied. The cast of FRIENDS made more money their final season than ANY movie star that year. Rikki Lake (sp?) had her own show. Cory Feldman may have been really messed up by the death of his pal Cory Haim and Michael Jackson. I could go on and on but I won't. Loved your comment.

Yes daughters of Carrie Fisher and Carol Burnett. All went on to have long careers except for D.A Pawley. Look how young Savion was. Chad Lowe is still around and Patrick Dempsey had a great tv career but none were ever going to win oscars.

5:25 time is SO fkn wild. You have Bob Hope & Lucille Ball introducing the HOT,NEW, YOUNG & talented actors winning Oscar's that year & sayin to keep an eye out for them bc the audience would be seeing a lot of them. I'm 35...& I recognized almost all of them. It's really so crazy. Kinda depressing actually. Lol

+dennis “menace2society” walker: How are you determining a long term career? If being in the industry for over two and a half decades counts as long term, then Savion Glover, Corey Feldman, Joely Fisher, Blair Underwood, and Holly Robinson have all had long term careers as well.

It is sad because literally a few weeks after this aired, we lost Lucille Ball. I was in Puerto Rico when she died, and she was on every newspaper cover, every magazine cover, and all over the news and television. It was beautiful how the world showed its love to Lucille Ball. RIP Lucy.❤

Remember when the Oscars was bloated by ridiculously unnecessary numbers like this? Oscar winners of tomorrow? Not unless that Oscar has a last name spelled Meyer!! It is no wonder award shows ratings started tanking!! There is absolutely no other reason for this clip to exist outside of Lucille Ball and Bob Hope. Knowing now that this was our final chance to let her know just how much we truly loved Lucy makes me so grateful that the audience in that theater that night gave her the standing ovation she so well deserved. Was she just an impeccable actress or was that appreciation real? We'll never know, but I choose to believe it was real. I love you Lucy!!

Between the years from 1993 and today, he wears many hats as writer, producer, director, production manager, assistant director and actor. Because his name on the list Judd Lynn was very passionate to choose and pick his own projects very carefully like Shootfighter and the Power Rangers franchise. He's such an wonderful gifted artist. Some people saw many of their filmmakers' projects over the years, but they insisted with Judd Lynn's signature projects for love and gratitude instead.
