I live here in Phoenix. This was one of my childhood arcades. Played plenty of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct here. We had a very competative local fighter scene. They were one of the first arcades to switch to cards back in the day. You weren't allowed to enter unless you bought at least a $5 card to avoid loitering. The place was really nice because of this rule.

Same. Might even recognize you if I saw you. Was a part of the fighting game scene up through Golf & Stuff, Midway (upstairs and down), sometimes traveling out to Video Round-Up and Mesa Golfland. It was a good place, but sadly, in my opinion, slipped. Some of it is just from arcade games in generally turning to junk (I have Fruit Ninja on my phone, thanks). But it looks like they've gutted most of the classic games from upstairs, expanded a ton on redemption (booooo), and shoved the pinballs where the classics used to hide. 90s Metro was good times.

Born and Raised in AZ! I would beg my parents to take me to Castles and Coasters in the early-mid 90s. I remember entering a MK3 tournament where they must have had 10 machines. Castles and Coasters used to get all the best games before any other arcade in AZ.

My family and I took a spring vacation to Sedona, really nice, beautiful, especially when you live in boring old Illinois. Hope you stopped at the blue McDonald's in Sedona only one with blue arches. Passed Castles N' Coasters didn't have time to stop but looks really cool arcade. Love the arcade tours. Keep up the great work, really enjoy the content.

I used to play here in 2007, most of the upstairs was 90s games. The fighting game selection was top shelf. One of the best arcades I’d ever been to, and I’ve been to literally 100+

I had my 13th (or 14th?) birthday party down in the Tilt at Northeast Mall in the mid '90s. When you showed a picture of the pirate ship that used to be there...memory unlocked! I totally forgot about that. The only thing I (previously) remembered there was playing Time Traveller. It was just to the right of the stairs as you came down from the food court. Man, it was a great time for that mall. Thanks for sharing the picture! And thanks for another great video!

Thank you for sharing those memories. I loved that Tilt in NE Mall. I would have lived there if they would have let me. I remember the Time Traveler machine being exactly where you are saying it was. That’s the first and only place I saw it! Have you seen our video on Time Traveler? We actually found one and restored it! kzbin.info/www/bejne/baHUmZWbfL97ebcsi=GOEjLPNHZJBV06tv

Grew up in Phoenix and when I lived there this was Golf 'n Stuff. As you walked around the floor I remembered all the 80's games that were in the places. Over by the ticket counter/concession stand there was a sit-down, moving Space Harrier and a 3 monitor TX-1 racing game. The lower, center level used to have the only sit-down Star Wars Empire Strikes Back I've ever seen and the mid-level, at one time, had all pinballs around the circle. So many childhood memories!
@ericsmalling4 ай бұрын
They also had one of the only Sega Astro Blaster games upstairs. (one of the early speaking games), they also had a sit-down Star Trek Strategic Operations Simulator over by that TX-1. Miss that place so much!

Not sure if you noticed the abandoned mall in the area, but the abandoned mall that will soon be demolished is Metrocenter, which was used as a filming location for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. They filmed the movie here, and another filming location is Golfland in Mesa (the water park in the movie), which is a sister location of Castles n Coasters

Castles and coasters was always one of the best, it was called gold and stuff before but the entire downstairs would be all the new games and upstairs were all the older games, it was a huge collection. Across at metro had one even bigger at one point but that was back in the 90s.

Awww man, I was just in Phoenix like 7 weeks ago and had 8 hours to kill. I did not run across this place BUT I did run across Cobra Arcade Bar in downtown, not too far from the airport. Awesome little bar with probably 30 classic cabinets. I have to head back out there in January so I will definitely hit up Cobra and CnC.
