Yeah it got even colder but now the temps are going back up! Felt like we hardly got anything done all week apart from thawing out troughs and clearing snow and feeding animals and keeping the house warm! We chopped down some dead wood 🪵 which was a good task to do

Hi ! Here it’s thawing out now finally ! We will be very wet on the ground. We had a few days of snow on and off and then it got a lot colder. Some drifts in places about knee deep!

12 inches of snow is a fair amount ! Here in the uk we seem unprepared often , I think because the weather is so unpredictable we may get snow tyres fitted at extra cost and have no snow all winter, so then you think they are not needed and all of a sudden it snows and you are stuck !!

We had 5-6 inches last weekend, then temperatures plummeted so most of the footpaths and verges are still covered up here in north yorkshire I was always told, if snow hangs around, it takes snow to clear snow Best place for snow is on Christmas cards or photographs, however much the scenery looks fantastic, working in it is hard going, every job just takes so much longer, and the workload increases Take care both of you Back UK Farmer's 🇬🇧 Geoff

I agree with you about the best place being for photos or cards, of for a ski holiday !! We had snow hanging around here until Monday night then it melted fast. I would say we had a similar amount , 6-8 inches accumulating over a few days

Yeah the snow makes everything look so different, it’s nice to see how it can look when painted white , very pretty but after a while it becomes frustrating!

Yeah you had more snow than us😆. We had about 2inch that lasted about 2days. There’s a fair few dead snowmen around town😆. We did get some proper nice sunny, dry European cold days which were awesome 😊.

Cold and wet weather reminds me of Ohio winters. Don't know why I enjoy it, but I do. It nice to come in and be by the fire. I have Highland cattle also, I know they will be ok, but I can't help but check on them.

How do those conditions affect your area Jeff? It’s definitely strange because I think we assume Australia is always hot and dry!

Things have settled down here a little weather-wise. You are quite right Joanna in saying Australia is often dry and hot. This year however where I am on the Southern Darling Downs we've had substantial summer storms with very heavy rainfall, strong winds, flash flooding and some hail. The nearby Granite Belt area (about an hour and half drive from here)where huge tonnages of apples, peaches and all stone fruits are grown. Many vineyards are there as well and they had a hail storm that went through a few day's ago. It had tennis ball size hail and did absolutely horrible damage to orchards and vineyards. The summer temperature is always quite hot here with maximum temps up to 40° C and at times even higher and when there's high humidity as there is now this creates the destructive storm cells. Other years it's often drought with unrelenting horrible dry heat. It certainly is the land of drought's and at other times flooding rains.
