My problem with the idea of turning a loved one is this: their remains are removed from the life cycle forever, so no part of them will ever live again. Whether or not you are religious and believe in souls or not, there is a science that elements of a person can live on in the form of energy and the components that made up their bodies; energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only transformed, so the energy that was trapped in the body, so long as the body/remains stay on Earth, are taken up by other life. The same with the components of the body, which is why I think bio-urns are the best thing for remains; if you chose to cremate, and you put those remains into a bio-urn and grow a tree in it, then in a very real way, that tree is a living and breathing reborn form of your loved one. And when it dies, its remains will break down and be used for new life and so on and so on, so life is eternal so long as this cycle goes on. Locking remains in a diamond PERMANENTLY removes them from the life cycle - their part of the gaia mother Earth life is over, and they are literally as dead as stone. So no thanks, I prefer bio-urns to keep my loved ones part of the eternal life cycle that nature puts us into.
@alexfrank53313 жыл бұрын
Incorrect. 99% of their remains already turned into energy (or gaseous particles) and dissipated into the world by the time the ashes are collected.
@TimLongson3 жыл бұрын
@@alexfrank5331 incorrect; ashes makeup about 3.5% of what the person weighed before being cremated. But even if you had been correct, ANY part of a person, even 1%, is still by definition part of the person. Trapping any part of that person in a "rock" means that part of the person is forever removed from the cycle of life, and the form on immortality that it conveys. Many find it comforting that their loved one lives on in other living beings, so they are never truly gone.
@jenlc15363 жыл бұрын
It's arguably better than being a dead body pumped full of chemicals and put into a non-biodegradble coffin (since nature at least makes diamonds). Personally, I also like the biodegradable urn or being made into an artificial coral reef, but everyone finds closure differently.

So theoretically, the human body is about 18% carbon by mass. This means that a 70 kilo(154lbs) person contains about 12.6 kilos (27 lbs) of carbon. If we made a diamond from all the carbon in a human body, we'd have a 12.6 kilo gem. This is 63,000 carats. For every 0.1 carats worth of diamond made, I'd cost roughly 3,000 USD divide the 0.1 into 63,000 you'd get 630,000 (0.1) costing on average 1,889,370,000 USD. So if you weigh 200+ lbs, expect to pay $2B+ to turn yourself completely into a diamond 💎. Somebody definitely better do this one day as there's billionaires who are close to becoming trillionaires. #ElonMusk

Just like those who market human composting, they are portraying young women who did a masters thesis on death and "grief" from old, antiquated things like a funeral, mourning and isn't this a beautiful way to celebrate your loved ones (as opposed to coming together to celebrate the life of said loved one). Do you honestly believe this story? Next step, pass some laws. Their stats on how cremation is now the most often way to "dispose" of loved one is suspect as well. Think everyone, why are they making up these stories: they are on TED talks, they are on shark tank, they are not representing our interests, simply to make lots of money, their process is suspect, their prices are suspect, how do you know what you are wearing? Don't be persuaded or at least think about it!!!! This is a marketing ploy, please do some research. Love you all.
