Netflix really fucked over Sentai with that Vinland Saga fiasco. That was probably their biggest title this year and Netflix completely stole their thunder. Netflix also screwed over the actors for their own dub. Since it's only available outside of the US they are still under NDA, despite the fact that VPNs exist and they still put the English dub credits at the end of every episode.

In the UK it's just as flakey. With the buyout of Manga UK by Funimation, who they often partnered with, so it was mostly buisness as usual. Then you have Anime Limited who partner with Aniplex and Crunchyroll, they still work with CR to get new seasons of Love live out premiering in English for the UK first too. But now this mega Sony buy just means Anime Limited might well and truly be screwed, if they didn't have the deal with Netflix UK, which hey they also have had plans to bring over Kakeguri since the end of Season 1, so this hubbub about the Sentai dub is very confusing because no one knows what'll happen. We also have MVM who are Sentais buddies and sometimes get random titles like Anoha just out of the blue, and have the exclusive rights to the Fate series seemingly. Oh and also there was some BS with Universal UK, they tried to take advantage of Funimation being partners for a year or 2, released like one season of MHA, then gave up and Sony UK took over for a bit before papping it all off to Manga naturally.

Please do a video just on Discotek. Seeing them dubbing and releasing Case Closed/ Detective Conan is like a dream come true. RetroCrush is also interesting as well.

One licensor that really annoys me is Aniplex the problem is that a lot of great series get abandoned in a endless desert BOKUBEN,Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two Multi-Target Attacks and Super HxEros and that's not all there is also the older series that are unlicensed because Aniplex decided we don't want to make what little money we could off these series Sekirei,Black Butler,Baccano,Birdy The Mighty Decode,Shiki,Angel Beats,Darker Than Black and more out of those older series Sekirei is probably one of the bigger loses in my opinion yeah maybe to others it isn't that big of a deal but Sekirei is my favorite harem anime while i did like High School DxD i like Sekirei a lot more being my favorite harem is one of the reasons why i consider such a huge lose the other reason is that the show never really ended it just kinda stopped YAY FOR READ THE MANGA ENDINGS AM I RIGHT GUYS with no legal way to support the series there is even less chance of a season 3 happening season 3 wasn't gonna come but still it annoys me if Aniplex of America re released these series themselves then i could understand why they did what they did but for the most part they haven't i know you already made videos all that aside the whole Vinland Saga having a different dub on the Blu-ray thing i could understand why that would annoy people but i will watching the series in Sub regardless of which dub is included another problem i have noticed is that Funimation Blu-rays are slowing down take Radiant Season 2 Part 1 released on Blu-ray over a year ago and still no word on when Part 2 will release Super Cub hasn't been released on Blu-ray at all despite it having been long enough for a Blu-ray released and where's The Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2

This is just America, I don't know how badly the state of Anime licensing is everywhere else. I don't think it's much better. For Crunchyroll and Funimation, I'm mixed on the whole situation. On one hand, I would hope Sony could improve both CR and Funi in many aspects, their websites, region locking, etc. On the other hand, Sony has a near monopoly of anime. There are other anime licensors like you mention and Sentai is definitely getting screwed over by this.

I was ok with Vinland Saga since I believe Sentai’s dub was what we we’re gonna get first originally it’s just that Netflix was trying to get their dub out first. The Kakegurui situation though still makes me mad it’s getting a new dub cause Erika Harlacher is Yumeko.

I think that the reason Sentai decided to create their own Kakegurui dub is due to Netflix selling the rights to the Dub at a really high price that Sentai can’t afford, or It’s just Sentai being cheap and deciding that they would rather create their own Dub to save costs
