Hearing him give his lower tier fighters a 70-30 cut & making almost no money off people who learn from him puts a tear to my eye. Samart truly is one of the few gentlemen left in the Muay Thai business in Thailand right now.

Thats because his gym stays alive with foreign money who he charges more to.. all the big thai gyms do the same thing.

I noticed the same. Had it been a western journalist, she would have interrupted him constantly and put up pathetic counter-arguments just to raise some useless conflict.

Same thing is happening to the art of Kali. In the Philippines, most of us prefer the imported stuff than patronizing something that is truly ours. His words "If you really want to see the art of Muy Thai, watch the foreigners. Don't watch in Thailand", then lower tier fighters a 70-30 cut & making almost no money off people who learn from him. Truly sad. More respect to this living legend of the art.

Looks can be so deceiving. This guy looks like a calm, timid, soft, weak man. Someone probably would not hesitate to fight him if they accidentally bumped into him on the street. But this guy is a beast!
@TStawinoga8 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the guy is truly a master of deception, not only in terms of his fighting style but also in terms of appearance :-]
@nodramapleasellama76158 жыл бұрын
This guy might as well be THE beast... Really, it is sad how the appreciation for martial "ARTISTRY" has gone... Even when youre with your family watching boxing, all you can hear people saying is "throw the 1-2!" or "use your jab", and that's as deep as it gets... People judging by more shots landed as well.

Fred .Flintstone isn't he considered the muhammad Ali of muay thai?
@fred.flintstone40998 жыл бұрын
+darthclon7 Well it depends on. He was not a heavy weight and not known for talking. He is known for having a great sense of distance and timing as well as being the GOAT. Sometimes Orono Wor Petchpun is considered the Muhammed Ali of muay thai because of his personality and spirit.

"If you really want to see the art of Muy Thai, watch the foreigners. Don't watch in Thailand!" Damn., that is sad. Watching Muy Thai matches in Thailand WAS on my bucket list. Looks like I will have to watch it elsewhere.

I went and watched at Lumpinnee stadium month. The muay femur style may be disappearing but the muay thai is still top level there. Its still worth going to watch and train. Just find the right gym. Learn from the golden era guys.

@barazimg4 жыл бұрын
It should still be on your bucket list.
@ccramit Жыл бұрын
@@marie-paulekneur5427 He's saying that because in Thailand, it isn't about Muay Thai and the artistry anymore. The sport has evolved into making money for the higher ups in the sport. So gone are the ture fighting techniques and basic fundamentals. Now, it's all about how many times you throw your opponent down or how powerful the 2 or 3 punches you land are. So fighters don't train to fight. They train to make it to the final round and throw their opponent to the ground a few times because that's how you win a match nowadays. The only people who actually practice the true sport are the foreigners who fall in love with the sport and want to eat, sleep, and train REAL Muay Thai. That's why he says go watch the foreigners, not the Thai fighters.

Boxing in Thailand is legal gambling. So it is not strange. Where the mafia will dominate the sport.

Thai Fight is more like a shows, they bring amatuar foriener fighters from abroad to fight with Thais elite, many of them didnt even know how to defend properly. So It easy to build the fame for these thai elites and sell them further but for the audiences who want to watch a close match, hell no.

He didnot threw the fight, that fight occur at the lastest time of his career after he once quit muaythai. When he was at his prime and being a boxing world champion, he is kind of a superstar a celebrity of the sport. He went to became a singer , a movie star. So he lost focus in training and make him weak. You knows his song name is "Oon Soam" with is mean "lazy to train" is well describe the situation. So he lost that match becoz he was out of gas in round 4-5. So Wangchannoi could make a comeback. This case happen to many of nak muay Somrak, Manat they also weakened after they own success at olimpic.
