The Stihl MS 391 Why I like This Saw

I had an MS 391 for about 15 years. Started having starting issues with it so I took it in to the dealer. It had scored the piston. Traded it in on an MS 392 I hope this saw does me as well as the previous one did. Nice video

MS391, maybe heavy, but it’s reliable and powerful, I’ve used it to cut large trees and it got the job done. Could use more power though. All in all, I’m satisfied with it. My comment is about disc golf ⛳️ though! I love to see more and more course going up. Kudos

I've just bought a 391 2017 model been used twice, saw was from a good friend off mine, bit to heavy for him to be fair, just fitted it with 16 inch bar and full chisel chain cuts really well.

Hello and Congrats on Retirement. You have purchased the best of the best of chainsaws I know the 391 and the 500 will do any job at hand but the 170 is just as tough it's big brothers LOL. Good luck when you hit the trail and Thanks for Watching

i have thr 391 and the 170. i use the 391 for larger jobs but i always switch to the 170 for limbing. I tried limbing with thr 391 and got tired quickly becuase the saw is heavy, 14 pounds. Love the 391 tho, 5 years now and zero issues.

I have Pro saws and a MS 170. For the little tree he cut, 170 would have been fine. Switch bar and chain to 14" .050 gauge, 50 dl. Much happier

You ain’t a kidding. I have an MS 271 with a 16 inch bar, and I use my MS 180 every chance I can. I love those little saws so much I own two of them (180, and 180 C) same way with trimmers. I have a KM90R with the trimmer attachment and I just purchased a FS94R because it’s a little over 10 pounds. I’m not as young as I once was. Sounds like a Toby Keith song. 🤔

I bought the ms391 with a 25 inch bar. The saw has alot of power and rips threw 18 inch round oak like butter. Chains are expensive though

@Kevin DeLaune the new one I just bought was about 45 dollars. But the so called better ones can cost around 68 dollars for one chain.

@Kevin DeLaune should last a long time. You can get them professionally sharpend for around 9 dollars or you can attempt to sharpen it yourself. As soon as you touch the ground the chain will be dull. Chainsaw is sweet though lots of power

@Kevin DeLaune personally I use a smaller 18 inch chainsaw or 14 inch chainsaw the most but take the big beast out for large trees. It is physically draining if using it for longer periods of time. Best of luck to you

This saw works well for me and if your saw is new, it should get better after 10 or 12 tanks of fuel, and you have plenty of options to turn this saw up as well. Have a great day and Thanks for Watching

Stumbled upon your video while searching videos concerning my own MS391 I've had for 6-7 years. Great saw, has done much work on the ranch and for firewood, and I fully expect it to last well past my lifetime. It appears you've enough money for good tools Daddyjoe so please invest in a pair of chainsaw chaps and hearing protection. As I've always said to every member of the family for work or sport, "Protection is cheap insurance!". You straddling that trunk while limbing made me cringe. Surf "Chainsaw injuries" and you'll park the saw until you acquire the chaps.
