The STIHL MS231 CBE chainsaw, unboxing, assembly and starting

The STIHL MS231 CBE chainsaw. What is inside the box? How to assemble it. How easy is it to start? My first look at this chainsaw and what I think.

Just bought this yesterday to partner my smaller Husqvarna. I’ve had a lot of trees down because of storm Arwen - around 35 with a further 20 odds to come down. Thanks for video.

Just a quick tip for you. If you look in the top of the black lid of the chain oil container you will see there is a small spout that lifts out and makes it a clean and easy job to pour. Thanks for the vid - just got one of these and they are easy to use.

Cheers David. I went an had a look at the chain oil bottle and unfortunately mine just has a plain screw on cap. I reckon they must have improved them.

Russell Platten Thanks for the reply russell, I looked at there entry level one as I just need it really for chopping up firewood but after a bit of research it not that much dearer if you shop about to get this one, I suppose if you buy it cheap you buy it twice! Thinks mrs Santa is kindly getting me one, I hope!😀

Nice video.Just got one of these for Christmas and I like it. My big 08S is getting a bit heavy for lighter work and this one suits my needs.It's just the standard model without the easy chain tensioning but as I like screwing that does not bother me. Great little saw.

Just a note on the small screwdriver that comes with the saw. It is actually for tuning your carburetor should you ever need too. The scrench as they call it is for other screws not that you should need it with the tensioning system on your saw.

It does seem to slacken off over time, but it is so easy to re-tension, I don't find it an issue. :-)

I have this saw too. It's very nice looking. An easy start function is nice. But overall for 2KW power chainsaw it's just too heavy. What it Your experience with this saw so far? Do You like it?

I really like it Pavel. I do not find it particularly heavy, but I only use it occasionally. I have done some fairly heavy cutting with it and it is better than other chainsaws I have used. :-)

+Danroxye01 None at all Dan. I have done some very serious stuff with this saw. If you look at the video I did about pulling the fallen limb off the oak tree with the winch. I processed that entire limb with this saw and some wedges. I was extremely pleased with it as this limb was about 4 feet thick in one place. It is a great chainsaw.
