The way the "Stimpsons" unmasked reminded me of the scene in the Simpsons episode "Burns' Heir" when Mr. Burns had those actors impersonate Homer, Marge and Lisa to fool Bart into thinking they don't love him anymore, doing a pretty similar bad job at imitating them.

@@Monkofmagnesia That could be part of the reason you don't find it funny. You have to be "in the know" and understand the references. The characters were all from British TV of years past. They're making reference to the fact that The Simpsons moved from airing on the BBC (the public broadcaster) to the commercial station Channel 4.

Mr Ben-A man that dressed up as other people and went into other worlds from a costume shop. Captain Pugwash-Innuendo after innuendo Bagpuss-A sleepy pink cat that goes on adventures. They're all children's programmes from the 1970's on British TV.
