The Stobies - New Dark Ages (cheap-arse music video)

The title song of our third album, New Dark Ages began life as “Home Delivery”, an elaborate demo by Richard in two sections: an arpeggio intro with E-bow droning and a fast strummed multi-guitar main section. The idea was worked up into a longer piece in June 2023 with an added bridge: Hugh contributed the strange chords and Steve the space rock lead guitar. A couple of break-downs after the choruses were added at this stage, plus the return to the intro drone at the end.
Steve took away an export from the session to overlay a vocal melody, the new title and the lyrics (written one afternoon in Banksia Tree Cafe, Port Adelaide).
This quick'n'dirty music video was assembled by Steve in Adobe Premiere Pro, from live rehearsal footage by Mia Prideaux, bookended and interspersed with AI artwork (combining Midjourney imagery with Runway animation).
