People need to understand that an Ian Brown performance was never about how talented he was, he is a frontman, it's his fucking attitude that counts, he didn't give a fuck he couldn't sing. This his best performance simply because he was on the same level as an entire city at that point, his goal was to get as fucked as possible and spread peace and love. WHAT A FUCKING LEGEND

I was there! And my clothes were still wringing wet when I got back to Manchester. Not only that, the next weekend was my first night in the Hacienda and Ian Brown was there too, in his collar-of-fivers t-shirt. We made eye contact and his stare penetrated my very soul. Life-changing times indeed.

Squire was 27 years old when they did this gig. There are many great bands... but very few capture a moment so perfectly... perhaps the beatles, in the early 60's, stones in the early 70's, the pistols in the mid 70s and, the specials in the late 70's?....The Roses did it - they were perfect at that time. What are the chances - you have 3 once in a generation musicians and a frontman capable of leading a generation

Tell you what Mike i clicked on this track because i got told it was pretty good, i think that was an understatement to be honest, sorry about the mess everywhere its because my head has just been blown off my shoulders by these little scallywags!! Fuck me man if they were transported back to New York in 1968 and played this to all those tripped out hippys( who were used to having their "minds blown away" by Jimi Hendrix and Jefferson Airplane and the Floyd) if they heard this they would REALLY know what it was like to be taken to a whole new level of Psychedelic mind fuck what the fuck who gives a fuck just go with it and what the fuck musical fucking brilliance" Know what i mean Mike? I NEVER thought that any track could beat my all time No1 acid drenched tune (The Four Horsemen by Aphrodite,s Child) but this one has done just that, fucking incredible bit of music that made peoples faces melt like hot wax before my very eyes. Know what i mean Mike?

Bloody right again Mike, when i heard how good this was i thought i would listen to the very best of the boys album and i suddenly realised that i nearly missed out on this band(Well,i did first time around) because i was so caught up listening to the Greatest Rock and Roll band in the world in my opinion who go by the name of Oasis, did you think i was going to say Aerosmith then? Or Marjorie Proops and the Justine Beiber MotherFucking GothSlaying Sons of Bitches from Drotwich Band? Yeah i was so impressed by Oasis back in 94 and onwards i didnt take a lot of notice of all the other shit hot groups that were around then, but fuck me Mike i am certainly making up for it now and in fact the West Midlands Police have just put a bill through the commons making it ill-eagle to play "I am the Resurrection more than twice in a row above volume 35 decibels after the hours of Eight at night whilst wearing a dressing gown covered in sequins and performing a "Ian Brown style dance" with a vacant look on ya face outside your own Summerhouse in ya own garden"! I pleaded Guilty mate and could face 5 to 7 in the scrubs next month. But as Danny Dyer once said "Was it worth it"? Course it fucking was,!!

Reni, using only a snare, a floor tom, a kick drum, a hi-hat and a splash cymbal, carries this song the whole way with metronomic timing, he was and is a colossus on the drums. And he was also the best singer in the Roses but that's a whole other story.
