The ending to She bangs the drums wow, by far and away Ian’s best vocals ever were on this night. Even the whole gig it’s amazing, this is the closest I’ve ever heard Ian live sound like the studio recording. The band are are fucking mega as well but I’ve expected it with them, I’m genuinely shocked how good Ian is here.

It's difficult to pick anything over another in this gig but that Sally Cinnamon is the best live I ever heard and even better than the single release. Sugar Spun Sister just picks up from it, I can't be unhappy at the outcome of the Roses when they left memories like this

@@brendanbrown3100 perfection is an overused word mate but aye. Everything about this gig is even more legendary cos we still haven't got a visual recording and likely won't. So it remains as I recall, a sound. But one of THE sounds of my life.

As I get older and kid on I was there originally (in the tent I mean, I was outside)😂 I ditch my belief that you can't have "favourite songs/albums etc" cos I always start and end with Elephant Stone. It seems like their whole vibe wrapped up in that perfect tune. I'm grateful for being born in the southside of Glasgow and having mates who were a bit older and at least got close to a big dirty tent. My Uncle was annoyed because I was outside while he was in. It was an experience but one that will remain with me and 2 of my pals who are left who were with me.

@@MadeOfStone02 you'd think there would've been a crew following them thru all these major shows, they're there at Blackpool, not at Alexandria Palace, not at Spike Island (tho it was filmed in a bizarre, non pro shot way), not at Glasgow Green.....they were so huge at this moment...America could've been taken by 'em....but they didn't want any part of that....their story is so odd...

Amazing remaster, their best ever gig according to many including themselves, 5 years before I born unfortunately my mum was there though. Seen them 3 times before the 2nd split but can only imagine what it would’ve been like to be there that night

A Manchester fan here. I was flicking round the Roses stuff on here the last couple of days and note they start their set as often as not, as here, with I Wanna Be Adored, with its lyric ‘I don’t need to sell my soul, he’s already in me’. I grew up North Manchester in a fundamentalist religious culture. So when I heard this tune 30 years ago, this line always grated with me. I guess Brown / Squire wrote it as a taunt to those of a religious mindset? I can tell them they hit the mark ! Actually, 30 years later I’m grateful. It took a while for the penny to drop, but lately I have come to see that ‘the joke’s on us’. - I have been doing some orthodox theology lately. Turns out that the orthodox believe differently than fundamentalist- they believe that The Divine is ‘already in me’. Covered by crap to a greater or lesser degree in each of us, but nevertheless immanently present within each of us. So, the meaning for this song transforms from being a taunt to me, to being something like a hymn. XD I’m gonna have to buy that vinyl all over again cos it taunted me so much it got itself thrown in the bin in about 1998... apparently they have a remastered version made a few years ago. “Upgrades !” Long live the Roses 🌹 Heart of Stone made into a heart of flesh ❤️❤️❤️❤️ P.S. Ian got a cameo in Harry Potter - The Prisoner of Azkaban:- the Potter stories begin with philosophy, The Philopher’s Stone (Stone..!), and end with Resurrection (in the last book Harry, rather than wielding the wand for ultimate Power, breaks it and so shows his walk of philosophy has done its work and he has finally learnt that the divine way is not to lord it over, but rather it is all *cruciform* love.) When The Beatles tired of singing Please Please Me, they became philosophers. (Squire puts the Day Tripper riff into Fools Gold live). Pop music turned to philosophy (love of wisdom) and will lead us to contemplation of divine love and thence ‘I am the resurrection’. Love Spreads ✌️

@@johnharvey4448 I also threw out at that time Nirvana’s stuff. I’m gong back to it now with new eyes, understanding the pathos poetry in it all. The La’s also are epic. Common denominator is ‘the passions’. The passions are what apostle Paul meant by ‘flee from the evil desires of youth’. Kurt didn’t flee in time before being completely overcome by them. Lee Mavers found a way to flee them, so he lives till this day. ‘I don’t aim to miss, to get a Way Out of this’. He got out of the passions (Doledrum) which IS to flee the evil desires of youth.

Adored as a very simple meaning, at the time even the band explained it. It's an anti- U2 and bon Jovi/ Simple Minds etc..song. How Bono and that think they are Messiah figure's. It's as simple as that.
