What a band. A song with such brilliance is just a demo. For 99.9% of bands this would be their crowning glory. Fucking love The Roses, man ❤

Yep can confirm mate, I almost drowned once on a beach, and when your lungs get so so much salty water, you pray to die because of the pain.. Some bloke saved me and I Awakened in a hospital.. I Respect the sea more than ever since that time

this song is a condensed version of the book the pearl basterd, with some lyrics lifted straight from it, notably the lyrics, the neon sign was blinkering, and jesus let me die, reading the hammers home how important a song it is, and puts to bed any similarities it may have to other songs, one of my favorite roses tunes by far

I gave my pearl away this week Now I'm freezing with this company Can't find my friends Where can they be? The lights lit up a thousand homes The neon signs were blinking out But no one heard me as I fight I couldn't see, sand in my eyes The noise I made drowned out the tide But no one came I was all alone The shadows crept along the beach And now the buoy was out of reach My lungs filled up with salt and screams All alone on my own Dark and cold wanting warmth Fighting waves, that kept me from the shore I climbed and fell and tried again I slipped and tripped and fell back in As thunder claps came across the sky My screams were drowned out, so were I, So true love Let me die, Jesus, Jesus, let me die Drop the sky, let me die This is the end, my end This is the end, this is the end

Fantastic bassline and how Reni plays along with it 👌 I'd love to hear isolated drum & bass for it, and for all Roses songs for that matter! With Johns guitar separate too so I could attempt to learn it! They are all such talented musicians I want to be able to hear and appreciate each part separately. How about a special box set for Christmas?! Cheer us all up! 🍋🎶🌹🕊🍋
