Reni - multi talented. Beautiful voice. Best drummer ever.
@iainmurray58315 жыл бұрын
An absolute unique genius, comeback gigs I watched him play mostly as I saw The Roses in 89 and 90. Gave them the groove that made Stone Roses imo. Even after his 1st gig Pete Townshend wanted him to play on an album for him. Funny old interview, Mani calling Reni The Octopus, said he was best bassist in the band, then Ian and john said he was also best singer and guitarist!! Pity he had a rough childhood and was very sensitive and private, Mani was always very protective of him esp when Reni quit, felt sorry for him
@josyposy16265 жыл бұрын
@@iainmurray5831 I couldn't've put it better myself! Exactly how I feel about Reni. Shame it's made him too sensitive to want to be in the public eye, so we miss out on his tremendous talent and sense of humour. I see he gave up on twitter too. Such a shame but I totally get it tho. People are too judgemental. It was nice to see your comment that actually seems to understand Reni, and how a difficult childhood can affect us, and have long reaching effects... I'd love it if he ever did manage to write a book...he did try with the Simon Spence Stone Roses bk, but Ian shut that down, sadly. Seems to me Ian & John are quite controlling in their own ways, and maybe if they gave Reni more space to express himself creatively and let him contribe and feel valued they might still be together now...
@mindrolling245 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. I think he’s the best musician of the lot. Certainly the best drummer I’ve heard or SEEN: his sense of rhythm seems to come out of every pore and it’s magic to watch as well as listen to. He’s funny, talented, smart and seems like a very nice person. His singing’s great as well; Brown would not sound as good without Reni backing him up.
@josyposy16265 жыл бұрын
@@mindrolling24 I agree, he's the most watchable drummer I know of and a lovely person. It seems to me the others had to work hard to become great, but Reni was naturally gifted. I know he worked hard too, but talent just seems to ooze out of him! Like he is part of the music not just a person playing music. Reni IS rhythm/music. I wish the pro shot Reni cam footage from the gigs would be released. Be so great to watch. If I could, I'd set up some kind of Reni Appreciation Society/Fan Club/website dedicated to his enormous talent!
@iainmurray58315 жыл бұрын
@@josyposy1626 totally agree, theres an interview in Sweden just after Reni left and journo kept asking why and rumours were true. Mani said, we all know the lad and what hes been through, hes a cracking kid and it's a shame for him, I always felt bad for him. Reni was the key to Rose's unique sound, he was flawless. Think hes very sensitive guy, and ian Browns aggressive manner and Squires over producing and Jimmy Page obsession obv caused probs and Reni in a fragile state couldn't cope

Groovin comeback!!! A great and welcomed return of catchy tunes with balls and musicians with real character and charisma performing catchy tunes with a definite Manc swagger to it all. from 20 plus years earlier and not over produced music and over the top musicians who are trying too hard to be cool and are average. It’s gotta be natural without trying to much to actually be properly cool which doesn’t happen too often. Like the indie groove rock of The Roses and Mondays.

He could release music as a one man band! (I wonder if he secretly does...under what name I wonder... surely he needs an outlet for all that talent, unless playing along with his offspring is enough... but I'd miss not seeing him with these guys. Such a loss to not be able to see them again... I'd love to see the whole Parr Hall show, plus all the rehearsal footage from Shane Meadows' film, Made in Stone. I absolutely bliss out on this and Waterfall and Don't Stop from the rehearsal...made the whole reunion for me as I never got to see them...boo hoo...despite being 'well' old enough!
