I love the subtle geometry of the red cymbal's bell. You can clearly see that the shape was carefully honed with tonal consistency in mind, attention paid to preserving the cymbal's overwhelmingly dry quality. And then to top it off with hammering so delicate that most trained eyes would be hard pressed to find the hammer's witness marks. Truly, this is the work of an artist

My favorite unconventional "cymbal" is a galvanized steel trash can lid. Putting it on a stand isn't an option (because it's ungainly and tips any stand I've tried to put it on) so I drove a screw into the rafter above my kit and hung it using a piece of clothesline.

When we were kids, there was a sign dump nearby. We went to the sign dump, took signs, hung them on the wall in my room. They were heavier than we expected (steel) and larger than we expected.
