The STORM Hit Us HARD! Our Belongings Are DESTROYED!

Our Awning finally gave way and ripped to shreds in the huge storm we have been expecting. Can we salvage our belongings or are they beyond repair and saving? Gutted, wet and miserable but we all have to reflect on life at times like this and know there's people out there in a far worse position. We WILL get through this x x x

I think we all experience days like that, at some time or other. I have seen my husband swinging on our awning before now. It's part and parcel of camping. We always go back for more though 😂😂 - happy days. Thanks for sharing. You deserve a sub.

The Crazy thing is we went to the lakes and its was like a summers weekend. Our village was flooded kids stuck in school loads of Carnage. A new awning will give you something to smile about when it does happen. Glad your both safe and well.

Storm Babet has hit you harder down there, than in Central Scotland,where I live. We had quite strong wind and a bit of moderate rain. The North East of Scotland got the full brunt of it with serious flooding and some fatalities, tragically. Some people lost virtually everything they owned, when their houses were flooded out. I’m sorry about the storm damage have suffered and I hope that you can salvage most of your belongings . If you were to set up a Go Fund Me, for a new awning , I’d happily donate to it, to help out as you are such a lovely couple and right up there with my favourite You Tubers. Happy Birthday JP. Our awning also took a hammering in North Wales during Storm Babet, I was like you trying to use anything I could to stop it flapping away in the wind. Fortunately we weren't far away from a Caravan shop in Porthmadog where we were able to buy some re-bar pegs that held up well throughout the rest of the storm.

😢 sad you lost the awning , what about an awning rail on the van with a privacy room clipped on . Storm straps etc . Or even a gazebo for the winter months , hope the campsite helps you out with dry storage for a while . ❤

The LPG at the pump is about £1 a litre for my re-fillable tank. I don't use it very often so a 23 litre tank was filled about 2 years ago! Luckily our garden is surrounded by bushes and trees to my mancave is sheltered.

Aawww no so sorry you got hit so bad, i too lost my gazbo during this horrible storm, unfortunately the guinea pig hutch is under the gazebo so im going to make a makeshift cover for now as ive just succumbed to the dreaded covid and feel so ill (first time ever getting it). Also i cant afford to replace gazebo at the minute as it was a good one, it has lasted me 3 years of being up so done well really, but hey ho these things happen. Late comment, sorry. I hope you both are recovering from the storm. I can not imagine being in your shoes. I obviously watched your video but I' m sure that it is even worse in person. I'm glad you are both safe though. I hope you will be able to soon purchase a new awning, thats like half your living space if not more. Also, good luck with the move to the new spot. Fall storms are the worst with the heaviest of rains. Sorry you lost your awning and hopefully you managed to save the things inside from too much water damage. Two years in a row we had terrible September storms with weather breaking rain fall, my basement flooded both times but thankfully it is all cement but I lost my washer and dryer, furnace and freezer. Then the next storm took out parts of my roof and I had rain falling into the living room. I had to replace hardwood floors and get ceilings replastered and buy all new appliances but thankfully my house insurance covered everything. What a sight to see my washer and dryer tipped over and floating in the water haha. I ended up putting the new full sized stackable washer and dryer in the kitchen so I don't need to go down the basement. haha I suffer PSTD every time heavy rain is predicted now. Good luck with your move.

You were hit worst on the campsite as you said, but overall Suffolks had terrible flooding, peoples houses filled with water, villages the lot. Not sure about the state of the rest of the country, about the same I think with flooding.
