Systematic Parts is a project from Dutch duo Marco Joosten and Ivo Janssen. Marco is active as a DJ / producer for many years already and he has performed at parties such as Tomorrowland, Age Of Love, Beachland, Shadowlands and many others.
In 1998 Marco and Ivo released their very first track under the name Systematic Parts. “Violin De La Nuit” came out via Extrema Records and it became a huge success. The track was featured on lots of compilation CDs and it sold over 1 million copies during the years. In 2022 it was even featured in the movie "Zillion", which is a movie which tells the epic story of the rise and fall of the biggest club of Belgium.
Because of the 25th anniversary of “Violin De La Nuit” I recently sat down with Marco and Ivo, in Marco’s studio in Asten, for their very first video interview ever. I did ask them about the story behind "Violin De La Nuit" and more. Did you know there's a connection between Systematic Parts and the late Dutch singer Koos Alberts? Don’t walk away is one of the greatest tracks ever made.

A massive hit in the Belgium clubs, during the hay days of Belgian nightlife. What a great tune, what a great time it was. Totally uninteresting fact: the hook is reversed so I tried to reverse it again hoping to find a hidden melody. Disappointing - there's nothing there 😂. Heard this song first on the Club System 8 mixed compilation and loved it ever since.

Very nice interview, I also remember "Voilin De La Nuit" from Belgian clubs and compilations as it was very typical for the Belgian club scene, but I never really liked it. "Déjà-Vu" however to me is a timeless masterpiece with that epic melody which I still love. According to Discogs "Deja Vu" was released before "Voilin De La Nuit" in Germany in 1997 at King Size Records - Kingsize 002.

“Violin De La Nuit” was 100% before “Deja-Vu”, so that must be a mistake. It was the very first release on Extrema Records.

I thought Systematic Parts were a trio? Wasn't Guillaume van de Laar part of the project too?

Yes and no, the project started in 1998 with Marco Joosten and Ivo Janssen. Later Guillaume did the tracks "Oxygen" and "Don't Walk Away", but that was in 2000 / 2001. The first releases ("Violin De La Nuit" / "I Love U" / "Déjà-Vu" / "Confluence" and 'Heavens Light") are all done by Marco and Ivo. So it never was a trio.
