Rust cohle is more of a constructive realist than an putright pessimist he has a really geounded and real perspective of the world around him, wothout any deceit in his heart

But it could very well be due to his profession and the things he has seen including the dark and extremely twisted of human minds. Yes many of the things he has said are damn right and can be considered as rational and realistic( as he consider himself to be), it does make me curious how much of his perspective of reality was influenced due to the events he faced in his life. Maybe sometimes there isn't much difference between a realist and a pessimist!

My all time favourite show ... Never seen anything like this .... It's much greater than any show made in the history of television series .... It single handedly brought the rating of true detective to 9.3 on IMDB later on 2nd and 3rd season brought the downfall of true detective (currently at 8.9) ... But even GOT and breaking bad season 1 were not as great as this one .... True fan of this crime thriller

Nihilism has been the most contradictory philosophy, imo. Let me get this straight: I think True Nihilists would commit s*icide asap because 'why would they care about living' BUT, then the question arises, 'why would even they care about dying'. If life is meaningless, then death is meaningless as well. But if there was no meaning in anything, the WHY was the universe/reality created? Yes, fundamental forces came in existence and everything started taking different forms. But WHY those forces came in existence in the first place? What was the need, the reason? We may come to know about or predict things about "what happened for the creation of universe?" or "how all of this came in existence?" but we never think that much about "just WHY all of this exist?" There must be an answer to this WHY.

Bro bro bro... I have watched this series may be two years ago.. This hits me differently specially rust..(Matthew McConaughey) the way he did his acting o...m...g.. Still I can't forget. after s1 I can't be able watch 2 nd season because I didn't feel connected or i didn't get satisfaction... Character of rust which based on pessimism force you to think about other sides of life other than optimism.. i believe that optimism is real reason for sadness.. just like madara said "nothing goes as planned in this accursed world". people should have understand that too optimistic approach toward life is dengerous for them. Alternatively, Pessimism should have call realism.. pessimism shows you reality on basis of your present facts... Btw, Pessimism should not be Realism because then their negative POV will be considered realistic, even when things actually are not negative and also, it makes a psychologically bad impact.
