Thank you for the lovely content. The Bene-Israeli and Jews largely, in India are almost a forgotten community as thier population has shrunk exponentially. The handful people of the Jewish faith in India are struggling to maintain their identity. Thank you for bringing their recipes to us.

Saat padri is almost as same as Maharashtrian Karanji
@G000GLE_RAJ2 ай бұрын
Saat Padri is a Maharashtrian recipe too 😊 Thousands of years we stayed together, so obliviously sharing ingredients and tricks and tools for kitchen must have happen . Kokan and Bombay bene isrealli speaks marathi as a mothertounge 😇 ..... I have been eating exactly same thing as traditional diwali faral from childhood , not sure of number of layers but from Suji/Rava + dry fruit filling to adding Ghee/Tup between layers of covering to making Dough in a way so covering becoming flaky etc etc . Everything my grandmother used to do religiously :-) l we are from SKP community , one of origenal inhabitants of Bombay with 900 years of written history and my family has almost 200 years of land records as Bombayite ..... Certainly, neither Israeli or shared traditions will be ever Lost ❤

i am wondering if the name "alberas" is from the alburz/alborz/albourz or elburz mountains in Iran....earlier Persia, from where the parsis(zoroastrians ) came ....fish alberas may have been a fish(cuisine) from the rivers flowing down from mountain alborz ? i guess over the ages the original recipes have been tweaked with gujerati/maharashtrian/konkani ingredients /influences,partof the qissa-i sanjaan.sadly few recipes survive ...akuri...shakshuka....parpeta par eeda...

The narli bharat is purely a costal Maharashtraian dish, as far as I know. Even the saat padri is a bit modified maharashtrian karanji.

They're not exactly the same as there are differences between the rules of kosher and halal. Though most kosher food is also halal....but not all halal food is kosher.
