Hey, ConeOfArc! I have a suggestion: you should make a video regarding the British A.38 Valiant. You mentioned one time how horrible that tank actually was, but a quick glance at this history revealed to me some pretty interesting things! I’d think it’d be a worth while video to explore was the Valiant was and why it failed and what succeeded from the failure.

When World War 2 ended in Europe and the Canadian Army began to be shipped home for demobilization, the majority of its heavy equipment was left behind in those areas where the Canadians had ended up before VE Day (mostly Belgium and the Netherlands). This was done to save money, as the majority of this equipment would still be discarded or demobilized even if it was shipped back to Canada. This included nearly all of Canada's tanks, which were reused by the reestablished Belgian and Dutch armies in their forces, scrapped for steel and other strategic materials (and various mechanical components) to assist reconstruction, or were converted into agricultural tractors. Thus, when the Korean War erupted in July 1950, the Canadian government resolved to send an expeditionary force to the peninsula. The Canadian Army found itself with an embarrassing shortage of heavy weapons and AFVs. The United States Army released surplus M4A2E8(76)W and M4A3E8(76)W tanks from their stockpile, which were then donated to the Canadian Army for Korean service under the Military Assistance Program (MAP). All of the Easy 8 Shermans seen in this video are from that consignment.

We haven’t rearmed since. A couple hundred artillery guns, 85 operational outdated jets, 40 modernized and 40 outdated tanks and a few thousand APC’s and IFV’s, 0 air defence systems. There’s only enough equipment to field 30k combat effect troops as well although I don’t think we have the logistical capability to support that number.

Great story, and a great tribute to both the guys at the Ontario Regiment Museum, the Canadian tankers of the 40s, 50s, 60s, and early 70s in Ontario, and Sam McLaughlin himself. What a guy to fund the maintenance of those tanks...

You know two tanks I wanted to see in War Thunder the VK 30.01 (H) and the VK 65.01, I think their story is very good and it wouldn't be impossible since we have prototype tanks in War Thunder like the VK 45.01(P) and VK 30.02 (M). The 30.01 was rejected because it was considered an outdated armored vehicle and they preferred to give more importance to the Tiger, while the 65.01 was supposed to be the heavy that would face the French and British armored vehicles but Europe fell fast and they saw no need and both were made functional prototypes with turrets and all. Great video, very good. (Note: the Germans also did not accept the 65 because it weighed 65 tons and was difficult to transport and pass over bridges, which is quite strange to hear from the Germans since the Tiger 1 weighs 63 tons, Tiger 2 weighs 68 tons and Jagdtiger 71 tons).

What does any of this have to do with the video
@captmoha3787
@captmoha3787 5 ай бұрын
The reason being for the 65.01being rejected over the weight was the relatively thin tracks, compared to the Tigers' wide tracks which spread the weight on the ground and gave it a lower ground pressure, which was why the vehicles had relatively decent mobility despite their very heavy weight, well when the transmission didn't break ofcourse.
